   Comment Text
 1. Reliable services would be a welcome change! Traders should turn up on time and do a good job. Yet almost all the local services I have tried to use arrange to call round then just don't turn up. Why advertise your services if you have no intention of working? And as for doing a good job, incompetence is such I have taken one Keyworth trader to court!
 2. Farmers market would have to be Saturday morning for people who work.
 3. More choice of food speciality shops without being overpriced.
 4. They are all 1st class!
 5. Weekly market would be fantastic, good local produce, Fruit and veg, Bakery.
 6. Need more small industrial units to offer local employment.
 7. For a relatively small area there is a wide range of services. Some things are not easily available, TV services, double glazing or major building work but most are available in surrounding areas. Keyworth can never be entirely self-sufficient.
 8. If you want unusual ingredients for cooking you have to go further a field than Keyworth.
 9. The Keyworth Diary and Keyworth Directory provides valuable information about local businesses and services and should be encouraged. Don't need any more take-aways nor a betting shop.
 10. Planning should consider the impact of rising fuel costs and impetus to work locally. Keyworth could meet economic needs of a wide area if space used wisely to create business opportunities.
 11. Would be great to see less take-aways and more small local shops.
 12. Fair Trade should be encouraged where appropriate as a choice, not to the exclusion of lower cost options.
 13. Post Office and banking must stay.
 14. Parking is a serious problem, particularly when I do my weekly shop. Great pity we lost Wolds Drive Post Office. Please don't let us have any more take-aways.
 15. House deliveries would be useful from local shops
 16. We could promote less use of cars to visit local shops that are within walking distance for majority of people.
 17. Farmers Market is a good idea but would it take away trade from our already struggling existing shops?
 18. Situation with the health centre had a detrimental effect. Closure of HSBC meant that outlying village trades people who used to bank there now go to West Bridgford or Ruddington. Therefore village centre has deteriorated regarding shops. Staff school parking near South Wolds has caused such congestion that I sometimes abandon visit to the Parade area and shop elsewhere!
 19. Address parking
 20. A good fruit and veg shop needed, we travel to Ruddington to buy ours.
 21. A good family type firm of Solicitors would be a great advantage to the village.
 22. Would not like to see any more "chains" in Keyworth, Sainsburys is a poor replacement for Costcutters.
 23. Need more apprentice type positions for school leavers. BGS doing more for training school leavers.
 24. A decent pub with good food would be nice
 25. More people should be able to work in the village, reducing transport needs and costs and causing less use of energy and less pollution.
 26. The hardware shop is fantastic. The Square is otherwise fairly run down with few good shops. It would be good to have a shop for fresh produce there to avoid going into West Bridgford
 27. No need to develop commerce and business in Keyworth it's adequate as it is. Further development would be to the detriment of the village.
 28. Keyworth village centre needs to be made more attractive. A café with outdoor seating and more green landscaping, a new (attractive) bus stop, a variety of small but interesting shops, something to encourage people from surrounding areas to shop here rather than West Bridgford.
 29. I go to West Bridgford to get clothes cleaned at a more reasonable price and while I'm there I often do other shopping.
 30. Too many take-aways and not enough variety of shops. Why do we need 2 pharmacies in the Square? What about a fish shop, Deli, Farmers market etc.
 31. With many of the shops and HSBC bank gone, the Square does not look inviting! There are too many of the "supermarket" type shops and not enough small individual ones like a nice bakery, coffee shop, cheese shop etc.
 32. The hardware shop is excellent, the owner always tries to get anything you want and I do support him at all times.
 33. Local shops - too much of the same, do we really need 4 small supermarkets! 1 large one at affordable prices would be better.
 34. At present we drive to Ruddington to buy veg, would be absolutely fantastic to have a veg shop in Keyworth. The veg from Keyworth supermarkets is poorer quality, too expensive and high food miles, and the Selby Lane shop is too small.
 35. Appears to be an over-abundance of Take-aways.
 36. NO more take-aways. Hardware shop is invaluable and Post Office. Better bakers needed. No more charity shops. Children’s toy/clothes shop, lending library/equipment. Good book shop. NHS dentists and banking.
 37. Local business services are too busy and not available for small jobs in reasonable time frames.
 38. Important that we use our local services, use them or lose them!
 39. Concerned that many of our small local shops have closed or are closing. Diversity is being replaced by duplication.
 40. Normally the staff in village are friendly. A coffee shop or teenage ice cream/milkshake café would be of benefit. Small businesses are needed.
 41. Should be a replacement for lost greengrocers, I have to use Ruddington and West Bridgford shops now to get this choice.
 42. Need smaller more specialised shops, such as deli, coffee shop and restaurant/bar.
 43. A pity small shops are closing
 44. Keyworth's characteristics should be preserved.
 45. We are missing a fruit and Veg shop. Card / stationery shop recently closed and another up for rent. Rather a lot of takeaways
 46. Need a greengrocers
 47. No further business/commerce is required, there's quite enough of everything
 48. The area in the Square should not be owned by one person who appears to set the rents for the shops at far too high a rate!
 49. Would like to be able to buy good quality bread, locally produced, organic meat etc. Could the allotment holders sell surplus during summer/autumn at the allotments with a small proportion going to Parish Council?
 50. Good job, good price.
 51. The village has lost a lot of business especially as a result of the loss of the car parking facilities during the building of the medical centre. There has been no effort to encourage customers to return to the village. There is little car parking near the centre and talk about car parking by the village hall is irrelevant as it is to far away to carry shopping especially with young children in tow.
 52. There would certainly be a market for a quality café and gastro pub with seating outside A good greengrocers and farmers market would be excellent but sadly lacking at present
 53. I regret the loss of the little café on main street. We could do with a quality café open all day (All day underlined.)
 54. Shops in Keyworth give good service.
 55. Would like to see more offices and businesses open, giving more opportunities of local employment.
 56. We have vacant shops in the Square perhaps the rents/rates are too high. Strongly support the idea of a farmers market but parking would be a problem.
 57. Too many take aways
 58. It is a disgrace we have no facility for purchase of petrol.
 59. We would like to use local services but its difficult when people don't even bother to send quotes even when they have discussed the work. We must move from a town of fast food to one of diversified shops.
 60. Recently the Square has lost several shops and another is up for let. New businesses and a variety of businesses need to be encouraged, Are the rents too high? We need a local electrical shop/café/sports shop, but now we are going to have 2 chemists.
 61. One bank is not enough, difficulty with elderly/disabled getting pensions.
 62. Parking problems and "London" rates and rent have damaged businesses; we have fast food outlets where there should be electrical goods, shoe shops and good clothing shops.
 63. We shall miss Wrights Garage very much
 64. Should encourage more local business to the area, like farmers market selling local produce.
 65. Many families use Keyworth just to use as a base and only use local people for minor works i.e., leaks, electrical problems and so on. Strongly disagree with free bus to major supermarkets.
 66. Would have liked the garage to stay.
 67. No central heating/plumbing engineers available. Only 1 qualified h/h electrician, very few joiners/builders.
 68. Better use could be made of existing sites (Debdale Lane) to develop local business. Recent building on Main Street should not have been allowed as it is out of character.
 69. The employees of businesses along main street constantly 'dump' their vehicles for the whole day on Brookview Drive when there is good safe parking at the Church Hall and Bunny Lane. Casual shoppers should be able to use the few remaining spaces. Brookview Drive should be resident only parking if this was West Bridgford it already would be!
 70. Take aways close very early and I am sure they lose a lot of trade
 71. We are sure that there is plenty of accommodation in Keyworth - retail outlets are empty.
 72. Charity shops and vacant shops suggest that we do not need any more shops
 73. All services, shops, plumbers, workmen, labourers, should be recognised by a star system, so that when you employ them you know that they give good services.
 74. Having recently downsized and moved into Keyworth I was determined to live within walking distance of most facilities - sorry to see the electrical shop had to close due to? Too expensive rental and too much competition from Internet shopping
 75. Any increase in business and commerce would affect the friendly village feel and atmosphere, which is the main attraction of living here.
 76. I work and have not got all day to wander around all the shops, so end up going to larger shops out of the village to get everything I need in one place.
 77. Provision of small-scale business units on "easy-in easy-out" lease arrangements would encourage establishment of local businesses. Any form of rate rebate on vacant shop units might also be helpful.
 78. Service engineers for routine work are slow to respond to enquiries and pricing of work.
 79. I would like to see more investment to bring more business to the area, may be the building of more industrial sites or an extension of Debdale Lane industrial estate so creating more jobs in the local area
 80. Many of the shops are of the same type hence there are many fast food outlets, but a lack of other important outlets for example clothes particularly for children, and now no electrical shop.
 81. A department store would be very useful
 82. Present services meet our needs and are well publicised
 83. Need a decent coffee shop and/or bistro style café. Even a decent pub with a nice interior would be appreciated
 84. Need a good greengrocer
 85. Too many take-aways. Miss the Budgen's post office and the HSBC bank
 86. We have found the local services difficult to get a response from and generally poor are following up on appointments and / or promises
 87. Greedy shop owners are pricing shopkeepers out by high rents etc. The Square will be a shambles if we don't speak up
 88. It would be useful to have a list of contact details and opening times for all shops in the village. Late opening of for example the dry cleaners.
 89. No more supermarkets take aways or pharmacies. A coffee shop would be an advantage
 90. Food shops ok, takeaways good, other shops expensive
 91. We seem to have quite a number of takeaway Chinese and Indian takeaways and now two chemists within a few yards away from each other. How about a shoe shop
 92. Am surprised at the number of shops closed and still empty near the Square
 93. You should encourage and support local business more!
 94. Keyworth is now saturated with food take aways. Would use a farmers market if not directly competing with local businesses already using local produce (i.e. butchers) Fruit and veg would be greatly appreciated.
 95. We are desperate for an excellent greengrocer. We once had two or three now the choice of fresh produce is limited. I have to travel to West Bridgford for fresh fish.
 96. The businesses in Keyworth match those that I would expect to see in a large village. If we move to a higher level of business then we will become a town.
 97. It is a shame that small businesses in Keyworth are closing
 98. Perhaps BT should be pressed more to improve the broadband capability at the local telephone exchange, which will help home working
 99. All 4 'supermarkets' in village only 'convenience store' type products - appalling choice of fresh goods therefore end up shopping elsewhere
 100. Please no more takeaways
 101. I feel the quality of the shops in Keyworth are poor. Moor recently we have lost good quality shops replaced by shops that only a small % of people would use infrequently. Some shops are now empty as rent is too high The Wolds Drive shops are run down and derelict. Take Central Avenue in West Bridgford - they offer quality shops and cafés and create a lovely community atmosphere. Why can't we do that in Keyworth?
 102. Keyworth could be so much more than it is currently - the Wolds Drive parade shops could do with a face lift - new windows in the flats
 103. Its good to have a charity shop - but we don't need more than 1. Would use a good coffee / tea shop and think there is need for this in Keyworth (on similar lines to those in West Bridgford)
 104. There is a range of shops
 105. We would like Keyworth to remain largely residential apart from shops. No more supermarkets.
 106. The Keyworth directory and Keyworth News are excellent for finding local services
 107. Some of the Local services are easy to find, not all.
 108. Would like to see a fresh fruit and veg shop and also a wet fish shop. The Farmers Market would support this perhaps?
 109. I work in a local shop and its good to be able to help with our products and see the shop being used everyday.
 110. Its stupid that everything in this village has to shut at 10pm, modern people require things to be open longer.
 111. Availability of local cafés/coffee bars would encourage more people into the village and thus stimulate the development of business and commerce, and this in turn would provide potential employment for local young people.
 112. Customer is definitely unimportant at chemists.
 113. Keyworth News is a good source of local businesses and recommendations are paramount, the incorporated Keyworth Diary tells us all we need to know of daily events.
 114. The closing of HSBC bank has proved to be a very inconsiderate decision for the elderly who do not drive!
 115. Don't use Keyworth shops on a regular basis. Nat West bank is understaffed, queues form almost to the door.
 116. What’s happening about the eyesore at top of Bunny Lane, week by week the wall is looking worse, not a good sight for people entering Keyworth.
 117. A petrol station would be great. Too many take-aways but not enough good restaurants. Public toilets should be available at all reasonable times not when the medical centre is open.
 118. Too many take-aways and fast food outlets.
 119. Wolds Drive shops are run down. Too many fast food outlets that are closed during the day. Run down pub car park next door should be requisitioned by council for a market and extra public car park, whole area needs a facelift as the new village hub.
 120. A pub, which offers good value, quality food and beer. Tynemill group pubs are a good model. A greengrocer, fresh fish and a Deli/café in the Square.
 121. Parking can be difficult
 122. Any more development would impact on existing successful businesses
 123. Services are difficult to access if after hours
 124. Sainsburys offers poor choice and pricey. Poorer than other shops in Keyworth
 125. Good news to hear of new Deli and coffee shop.
 126. Easier parking and reasonable prices. Need a decent coffee shop.
 127. Fruit and veg shop, a fishmonger, both would be an asset to village.
 128. We need a petrol station
 129. Fast food outlets could be more careful about ensuring that litter and discarded food are cleared up outside their premises.
 130. Apart from 1 builder (excellent) I have only heard of poor services from local businesses.
 131. A lot of shops have very nice staff that are helpful and approachable, we don’t need a big supermarket. Local produce, choice and environmental issues at the fore, local is only good if it’s GOOD though.
 132. Local shops have moved towards fast food and beauty, we've lost Post office, electrical, teashop, clothes, greengrocers; we need variety to keep the custom.
 133. Need a really good café/bistro/wine bar similar to ones in West Bridgford.
 134. Supermarkets in village need to offer greater choice, better facilities and in some cases better prices. Access to other shops is limited if you work office hrs. I would use local businesses if I knew where to find them and how local people rated them.
 135. I would use a farmers market if it sold standard meat and veg, not weird things such as ostrich burgers!
 136. The closure of Post Office in Budgens means its difficult to collect large parcels now because of very limited parking on Main Street.
 137. I find out about local service through Keyworth News.
 138. Compile a local business/trades index from Keyworth and near surrounding villages to encourage the use of them.
 139. At the moment we have to leave the village for decent shops, nightlife, parks, take a look at Ruddington and West Bridgford.
 140. Some good, some bad
 141. None of the grocery shops offer much variety of choice, although Budgens is the best in this respect. Something like a Marks and Spencer’s grocery store would be ideal/ or Sainsburys instead of their small basic store. But where would there be space available?
 142. Complaints about shops closing are pointless, if enough people don't use them they'll close! Its simple economics!
 143. Farmers market, possibly on Village Hall car park, perhaps on a monthly basis would help local business and provide a useful social event.
 144. The only problem with Keyworth business is that it is scattered all over Keyworth, instead of all being in one place away from the residents and private houses.
 145. A fresh fishmonger is needed, we should not be having any more take aways
 146. A variety of small shops are needed so all products and services are available in Keyworth
 147. Unless a business chooses to advertise it is difficult to know what is available
 148. Sometimes it's a nightmare to park in the centre of the village depending on the time of day, with 3 small children it can be a problem if it's a long walk to where you have to go pushchair or not
 149. We have too many supermarkets, not enough small shops specialising in local cheese, meat, veg etc. to encourage them they should receive grants to start up using the charges the multi nationals pay
 150. Keyworth News is the main way to find out about services, etc and should be supported.
 151. Farmers market in the Square a couple of times a month would benefit the village, we regularly go to the farmers market in West Bridgford and support local businesses.
 152. I'm sure there have been many benefits since the 1964 building development.
 153. We no longer have a petrol station and now only 1 bank.
 154. Too many take-aways.
 155. It's a pity that so many shops are disappearing.
 156. Keyworth News is a great asset. Keyworth Directory has all the local services.
 157. We are very lucky in the quality and quantity of shops and services that we have, people working in the shops are generally very pleasant and helpful.
 158. The homogeneity and sterility combined with the official "friendliness" of staff in Sainsburys is unpleasant and out of character. A village needs its character and its characters. Keep the big boys out.
 159. Too many fast food outlets. Loss of card shop to fancy knickers. Another chemist, thank God! No more industrial units please. Most things can be found close to Keyworth without ruining our village to promote business.
 160. We have some good local shops, they need our support. A farmers market would put more pressure on them. Local butchers give good service and competitive prices and quality. It’s a pity we have no fishmonger or veg shop.
 161. Farmers market may be detrimental to local shops, such as the butchers.
 162. The range of produce available in the village has declined over the last few years, esp. fruit and veg. If I have items on my shopping list that I know I can no longer buy in the village, I go and do ALL my shopping at one of the large supermarkets.
 163. A farmers market would take trade away from existing businesses, when they are held in West Bridgford the local shops lose business every time, yet their overheads remain the same, rates etc.
 164. Currently a reasonable range of shops/small businesses and we should make sure it's easy for people to come into the village to access the services.
 165. Some services advertise with "no job too small", but on 2 occasions I was left in the lurch!
 166. Good quality farmers market would be good, maybe once a month. Encourage more small shops, fill empty ones by reducing rates for minimum of 2 years to help establish the business and then increase it slowly!
 167. More shops selling local produce, fresh fish, a local market, a good toyshop would be good. Also more good restaurants and better pubs.
 168. Need a high quality deli' and alternative food places other than take-aways.
 169. Closure of Wolds Drive post office, HSBC bank and electrical shop has been great blow to village.
 170. Ensure that local businesses advertise locally such as in Keyworth News
 171. Too many take-aways and restaurants.
 172. Need one or two more small shops.
 173. Farmers market, if during the week, I would find difficult to use.
 174. Lack of parking and the attitude of some drivers is putting a lot of people off shopping in the village, you should not allow new shops unless you improve the space to park.
 175. There are 2 gaps in a demanding market, A clothes shop selling modern and affordable clothes. A saddlers/horse equipment shop, I have to drive 20mins to the nearest 1 and so do many of my friends.
 176. Though there is still quite a good range of shops, the numbers are decreasing lately.
 177. High shop rentals preclude many shop types. We have an over supply of take-aways. Shops like Budgens and specialist shops like Animal Paradise and Threads are excellent additions to the village.
 178. Far too many take-aways.
 179. Need a bigger Post Office and better parking. I will not visit local shops at busy periods due to my car being damaged several times by cars trying to avoid illegally parked cars.
 180. More cafés and a farmers market.
 181. Would welcome a local "standard of quality" developed as informed by local people, which would become a benchmark for how well a service provider met customer needs.
 182. Too many fast food outlets.
 183. Too many fast food outlets.
 184. There are too many fast food outlets.
 185. Sad to see shops having to close because of overheads, rents required by both local and absentee landlords are very high. IT IS WONDERFUL TO HAVE OUR HARDWARE STORE, WELL DONE TO AHMED.
 186. Concerned about local shops closures and no new businesses taking their place.
 187. "Use it or lose it" must be continually emphasised, the recent loss of the electrical shop is a good example.
 188. Endeavour to support local business whenever possible.
 189. Improve the leisure centre. Have more specific shops, coffee bar, laundry, fruit and veg etc.
 190. A good quality coffee shop would be a good asset. I often meet friends in the Square and there is nowhere to go for a coffee, so we stand there and chat for half an hour.
 191. Village would definitely benefit from a good coffee shop-meeting place.
 192. What would bring our community together would be a market in the Square (farmers or otherwise). Re-design the Square to more like it was, just allow access and buses. We are a village and things should revolve around the Square.
 193. It's very old-fashioned for the take-aways to close at 10pm, they should be allowed to stay open until 11.30pm.
 194. Cobblers/shoe shop and more clothing would be good, but as this has been tried and vanished presumably profit is not good enough to pay the high rental on the shops in the Square and Wolds Drive Less fast food shops would improve the litter problem. If there must be a supermarket, Waitrose or Tesco are lacking in Rushcliffe.
 195. Generally well serviced. Word of mouth very important.
 196. Considering the size there are too many houses and the existing shops are too expensive, so we don't use them.
 197. We are in middle of farming community and yet I do not know where to buy their products. Farming is hard enough to business therefore lets support our local farmers.
 198. Too many fast food shops. Too many banks and building societies are moving out of the village.
 199. All the shops and take-aways have to shut at 10pm. Not ideal for a place the size of Keyworth.
 200. We do try to support our local shops but obviously in this day and age, price is an economic factor, also choice of product. We do find parking an issue as in my case I take an elderly lady shopping who has difficulty walking and no "Blue Badge". To park for her convenience is most difficult. We don't abuse double yellow lines but if car parks weren't jammed with all day parking maybe life would be easier for the less able!
 201. Too many fast food shops and not enough choice.
 202. We do our own jobs, (ex builder and plumber). Shops are too expensive, I have to go round them all for a bargain and still end up at Asda.
 203. Local shops provide a very good service however, car parking could present some problems for the elderly after 12th May. Perhaps more consideration could be given for time limited car stickers, I'm sure this would help.
 204. Badly need a fresh fruit and veg shop, the supermarkets are adequate but their products are not always fresh and have travelled long distances. We DO NOT need any more foreign take-aways or restaurants. It would be great to have a good quality reasonably priced English restaurant.
 205. Too many fast food outlets.
 206. We use a number of local businesses, on the whole we are well served by business here. Not keen on having a large supermarket, the local bus provides transport to the surrounding supermarkets, Asda and Morrisons.
 207. Would like a good greengrocery like they have in Ruddington at very good prices.
 208. There are no questions in here about non-service sector companies. The best industry to attract to Keyworth are the ones requiring a professional skill set - Doctors, lawyers, accountants, IT, architects etc. These bring huge benefits in jobs, wealth, society, etc!
 209. More parking spaces and no parking charges.
 210. Given the population of the village, the range and number of shops is inadequate. Many smaller centres often have a greater variety. Proximity to Nottingham maybe the problem and having 2 separate shopping areas and 4 supermarkets!
 211. Farmers market would impact on use of local shops. The loss of the garage means no petrol station and that means people will use supermarkets more as they have to go there for petrol.
 212. More variety of shops would be welcome.
 213. No more take-aways or supermarkets.
 214. Separate parking on school grounds should be available for staff and pupils and not on Church Dr and rear of Budgens.
 215. Use of paved area around the Square would give a market like feel to the area.
 216. Local services are unreliable. They pick and choose which jobs they wish to do, as there is so much competition "no job too small" doesn't apply. I have to go outside the village because locals do not want the work.
 217. Don't need any more big employers , it shouldn't be turned into a town.
 218. Now that HSBC has closed I have to travel to West Bridgford or Ruddington and so use the shops there.
 219. Smaller shops care more about their goods. Small supermarkets only carry a small selection and quality is not a priority. I'd love a farmers market, there's nowhere to buy organic veg.
 220. In the past 15 years we have lost so many good local shops with established goodwill, and will lose more if rents continue to rise unacceptably. Instead of take-aways, charity shop and bookmakers we had shoe shop, bookshop, greengrocers, electrical shop, men’s clothing, bank and more. The huge health centre has made parking much more difficult, taking away business that has not returned.
 221. More trades people.
 222. What a pity we now have 2 pharmacies in the Square, when the village has 3 shopping areas.
 223. Perhaps more small businesses.
 224. Please do all you can to encourage small shops and businesses. The village is defined by its retail centre. Loss of shops, banks, (Post office?) etc, could turn village into just a housing area.
 225. A shame that rents in Square and Parade are so high, traders don't seem to be able to make a fair living, or possibly being pushed out by supermarkets. We do need to have better knowledge, i.e. advertising of the availability of commerce and trade within Keyworth.
 226. Too many closed shops or shops shutting down due to high rents.
 227. Would like a café/coffee shop open until early evening, also a farmers market.
 228. Square would be used more if the open space were re-modelled to make it more of a social space, more seats, flower beds, reduce area where there are cars. Maybe change it so bus doesn't go into a lay-by, rather just make a wider bit of road and make the rest public space.
 229. This will always be subject to supply and demand.
 230. When will we have a farmers market, this was rumoured about 12mths ago? Herbalist shop would be good.
 231. Too many take-aways.
 232. No neon signs and no more take-aways.
 233. More availability to park, Budgens car park full of staff and pupils of South Wolds school. Health centre car park full of people parking all day and using bus to go to work.
 234. Buy single items only locally, i.e. they are convenient stores.
 235. Supermarkets in Keyworth are overpriced and do not always have the quality of that in larger shops outside Keyworth.
 236. Don't always turn up.
 237. Would definitely like to see regular farmers market.
 238. Keyworth is essentially a residential village and should remain so.
 239. Farmers market would need to be on Saturday, to meet the needs of people who work office hrs.
 240. No petrol station available in Keyworth.
 241. Local farmers market is a good idea providing it doesn't open the door to car boot and non-food sales.
 242. Always use local tradesmen when we can and it would be useful to have a directory of all trades that are available, not just the ones who advertise in Keyworth News etc.
 243. I would like to use local services but my experiences have put me off to some extent.
 244. Encourage local shops especially small shops to sell local produce
 245. There are far too many take aways especially of the same type. What is needed is a good quality restaurant.
 246. Keyworth needs another café/restaurant where people can meet for coffee and snacks and maybe an evening meal. Something like the Piano Bar in Radcliffe on Trent would be well supported.
 247. I resent paying prices for products/services that fall short compared to cheaper prices outside of Keyworth
 248. Local parish council run Keyworth they haven't got a clue
 249. Over 30 years I have had several 'mixed' experiences when using elements of local infrastructure. Those that have disappointed have not been revisited. Most of the time I have been perfectly satisfied with local provision although I have 'voted with my feet' on several occasions
 250. Keyworth's supermarkets make no effort to compete with Asda, Morrisons etc. Co-op prices are much higher than the rest and Sainsburys costs are higher in Keyworth than at main Sainsburys supermarkets in Nottingham and Loughborough, Why?
 251. All local tradesmen with good reputations are so booked up you often have to wait a considerable time for them to come. The hardware store is a real boon, always very helpful and will get anything you want if he doesn't stock it.
 252. Unless local people make more use of these the local heart of village will be lost.
 253. Local shops and businesses are too dear, so people shop at supermarkets.
 254. Variety, supermarkets have little choice of salads, fruit and veg
 255. I don't shop anywhere in the Square because there's no parking (I used to)
 256. I have given up shopping locally as on numerous occasions not found what I require.
 257. There are a lot of take-aways but not one is allowed to stay open after 10pm.
 258. Shopmobility scheme or the like would be very good.
 259. Very sad that Keyworth card shop has closed. We really need something to replace it.
 260. Sainsburys is worse shop ever to come to Keyworth. You could get anything from Costcutters, but from Sainsburys, you can get clams in butter but not stuff for a meat, mash and veg dinner, get cream with extracts but not proper soap and 30 types of wine and be lucky to find any cider. I've started shopping in other towns.
 261. Local farmers market would attract more business to area.
 262. Usually local tradesmen are more expensive
 263. More shops for toddlers and babies, from food, clothes, and nappies all sizes, and all at affordable prices.
 264. Keyworth shops are closing down, need more shops
 265. There are a lot more food outlets than there has ever been before and they encourage youths to hang around and litter.
 266. Farmers market would take trade away from local shops. Too many fast food outlets, these tend to only open at night, during the day the areas do not generate any use like a shop would.
 267. Need a shoe shop, mid price clothes shop for men and women’s clothing for all ages.
 268. It would be good to control number of identical outlets in village, eg. 2 butchers (say) stimulates competition, whereas a third butcher (say) might create a situation where all 3 were unprofitable, which is in nobody's interest
 269. Benefit from Farmers market, greengrocers and bakery
 270. West Bridgford is a "mecca" for fruit and veg, deli and bread shops. Over last 30 years shops have closed in Keyworth and fast food outlets have increased.
 271. Insufficient qualified journeymen who reside in village. I am all for providing work to the local community business and commerce.
 272. Please encourage use of local shops in the Square. Encourage landlords to charge less rent! Can we have less take-aways/ betting shops and we do not need a supermarket.
 273. Need pleasant goods quality coffee shop/ restaurant, possibly located on Main Street.
 274. Businesses in Keyworth should be able to recycle, as at present there is no facility for them to do so.
 275. Would use a farmers market but not at expense of local butchers etc.
 276. Used to be 3 Shell filling stations, now none. Nice to have a greater variety of shops with better trained staff. Problem is high cost of overheads, rent etc.
 277. Empty shops should be used to house a wider range of services, for example electricians.
 278. Local business to stock as much local produce as possible. Would not want Farmers market to prejudice local businesses.
 279. I would like to do all my shopping (apart from clothes) here.
 280. Would like supermarkets to stock more "fair trade" as Co-op does. Need electrical shop, shoe shop, and bookshop.
 281. Do not need duplication of shops, they always fail. No more Take-aways.
 282. Shame so many small businesses have had to close. It would be good to see them prosper again. Sure Farmers market would encourage more trade.
 283. Business and property rates and rents are too high, driving local business away.
 284. V fortunate to have a choice of good builders, plumbers, elecs, gardeners etc. Local supermarkets are much better stocked and cheaper than in past, esp. Budgens. We must keep excellent independent shops like Johnson’s butcher and Storeys hardware. We really NEED a café.
 285. There are enough business and commerce here, it would be nice to have a local solicitor and petrol station.
 286. We find and use Keyworth Diary to locate local business and services we need to use. Adverts for general issues also found very helpful together with the Keyworth Directory.
 287. Currently use plumber from Bingham. I contacted at least 6 in Keyworth to service my central heating, only 2 bothered to return my calls/quote and then quoted a ridiculous amount, so obviously weren't interested in the " no job too small" claim in their ads. Want someone to do some small jobs around the house, no one interested. Also same for garden.
 288. Too many supermarkets, too many and duplication of take-aways, Too few small shop retailers, too little variety of small shops. Siteing of Farmers market to encourage users to visit more local shops. To complement not compete with local retailers. Location of farmers market in centre for example Square, Middletons yard. Bunny lane and Village Hall car parks, Rectory field are too far from centre, many people won't walk to the centre from these locations.
 289. Tidy up the row of shops opposite Budgens as it makes area look shabby
 290. Unfortunately we have lost HSBC bank, Post office (Budgens) and petrol station
 291. I think it is bad planning to allow 2 pharmacies in the Square, when 1 is badly needed on Wolds Drive for the sake of elderly.
 292. Choice of children’s (etc) outfitters. Range of services not wide enough
 293. Most businesses have limited opening hrs. for example banks, building societies, estate agents. Some shops close on Sat afternoons so people have to go out of village, for example Chemists, hairdressers and carpet shop.
 294. Not sure that Keyworth is fully appreciated, it is a self-contained large village. If unable to leave, the good selection of shops, amenities, Drs, local business, schools, etc ensure that we can survive. Our bus service is fantastic, I am sure an envy of other local village/town.
 295. Need a petrol garage
 296. Farmers market would be good
 297. I was pushed to find many local builders as they don't advertise well in the likes of yellow pages
 298. We are always being encouraged to support our local shops, so I was amazed to hear about a new chemist opening in the square, which I find ridiculous. Whoever allowed this should be ashamed as they have probably helped towards redundancies (in time) within the existing chemist. A different type of business would have been more beneficial.
 299. I think that it is ridiculous that another chemist is being allowed to open in the village, which is only a stones throw away from the existing one. I thought that we were supposed to support our local businesses to make sure that we don't lose them.
 300. I have always been a great believer in using local tradesmen and services
 301. No comment
 302. A new Pharmacy has just opened in Keyworth, very close to the existing one. It is a pity it couldn't have opened, say on Wolds Drive, so that this facility is more conveniently accessible to more of the population.
 303. A good fruit and veg shop that isn't supermarket veg. A farmers market would be brilliant especially a WI stall or even a small general market, but perhaps there are insufficient people in the village to encourage traders to come. We have recently been to Nice and there was a superb fruit and veg market there, oh how I wish we had that where food is put in paper bags rather than masses of unnecessary packaging. A deli would be wonderful! A nice restaurant that serves European cuisine.
 304. I support and buy Local produced products, however by introducing a Farmer's market in Keyworth poses possible implications of more competition to small businesses such as butchers. Sorry that we don't have a fruit and veg shop as I feel the supermarkets have too much of a price advantage over a veg shop being successful. As there are several supermarkets that prevent independent small produce selling shops. May be more of the commercial supermarkets of the village (Sainsbury’s, Co-op and Summerfield) to concentrate on supporting local producers and enter into the spirit of trading in a village. Supporting the Local community
 305. Competition needed regarding repair garages, MOT test availability requires checking
 306. There appears to be a greater number of offices than there are shops variety of shops not very good
 307. Without substantial parking Keyworth will not attract business
 308. Keyworth shops could do more to promote themselves for example a promotion when the car park reopened to advertise and make shoppers aware of them and facilities
 309. Because we no longer have a car and I am partially disabled, I find most things I need in Keyworth, with the use of a mobility scooter Most thing are within my range.
 310. Keyworth looks a bit run down commercially - too many shops closed or closing, as well as the boarded up Royal British Legion building. There doesn't seem to be anywhere nice to eat out- somewhere with a garden or open-air pavement café for the nicer weather? A good Italian or Thai restaurant would be excellent!
 311. A good green grocer is needed Shame there are so many empty shops in Keyworth
 312. There are 4 pubs in Keyworth but I would only go in one. It's a shame they couldn't be more like 'The Plough' in Wysall or Cropwell Bishop or the Hammer and Pincers
 313. At this moment the economic climate is making things difficult for local business, they are at the heart of a community
 314. Supermarkets are cheaper - more choice. Quality of some services is not as good as in Nottingham i.e. dentists but an example of good quality service is Finishing Touch.
 315. We need a local greengrocer
 316. A farmers market would be a welcome addition to the village
 317. I would like to have a shoe shop, book shop and a café in Keyworth
 318. Great shame shops have been left empty because rates/rents too high for small local businesses. Property owned by outsiders is underused by these vacancies. It seems short sighted to leave shops empty when by lowering rents, businesses could make use of them.
 319. Quality of local shops could improve, lots of quality shops thrive in West Bridgford, i.e. a deli or farmers shop or a bistro/café.
 320. Traffic congestion
 321. Would like to keep shops we've got and perhaps see provision for a wide variety, especially a revival of those that have disappeared, for example a card shop
 322. For reasons best known to proprietors (probably economic) small shops, etc seem to be closing. Keyworth has become a fast food/ supermarket domain at the expense of traditional business, i.e. electrical
 323. I would encourage all advertised trades people to join a quality association. We still get "dodgy" work from new advertisers in local publications. The buyer still has to be aware. Would Sainsburys please untrain the formerly friendly staff to talk to us again.
 324. Number of shops and services available is not bad for a village this size
 325. Parking on Church Dr during term time must affect local shops and business
 326. Good range of shops and services and opening hrs are more than adequate. Local garages provide a good service, only area not served is a fuel service
 327. Post Office in Main Street is excellent and should remain open under all circumstances
 328. Too many premises that were retail shops being turned into offices
 329. There should be an attempt to persuade the larger shops/supermarkets to a) stop competing with local businesses. b) To rationalise their specialisms and not compete across the board other than on price
 330. Too many retail outlets remaining empty. Another banking institution would be helpful and convenient
 331. As Above
 332. Could local authority encourage a wider variety of smaller businesses, perhaps the allotment owners could set up a co-operative green-grocers, can't get more local than that!
 333. We support local business but would not do so if we felt we were paying an excessive premium to do so
 334. Fewer take-aways, more diversity of shops, electrical store
 335. I think balance or commercial and residential is about right, but I HATE the betting shop as I don't feel it sits well in a rural community and would not like to see a proliferation of similar establishments. I do, however respect the right of others to a different opinion.
 336. We try to walk to shops but discourteous parking outside Budgens is a big problem. Even when parking spaces are available some still park on both sides of Wolds Drive, preventing buses from entering their parking bay and thru traffic is impeded. Similarly in Square parking on double yellow lines should not be allowed, people will be deterred from shopping locally while such problems are not dealt with.
 337. Would only consider local produce if priced competitively
 338. Keyworth could benefit from a high quality coffee shop with provision for outdoor seating in summer. A wider choice or restaurants as opposed to take-aways would be great
 339. Part of the new shop frontage on Co-op pharmacy looks appalling. While I appreciate it is shelving inside, from outside half the shop looks boarded up. It looks like new businesses are going to fill some of the empty premises and a lovely new plaque has been installed all of which should hopefully go towards making the Square look better not worse
 340. No more bookmakers, estate agents and fast food outlets
 341. Closure of coffee shop/bakery in village centre is a huge loss. This needs to be replaced to encourage community interaction. There should be incentives for small local businesses to open in vacant retail units; ideally selling local produce where possible.
 342. Adequate for my needs. A Farmers market may be viewed as unfair competition by local shopkeepers
 343. Preservation of post offices and basic commodities for example butchers and bakers is important. There is a need for a greengrocers selling fresh produce and variety
 344. A farmers market may adversely affect local shopkeepers who have to bear the cost of rent and rates
 345. I always use local businesses where available but I am worried that the shops are disappearing.
 346. I would like a greater variety of small food shops, in particular a good greengrocer's selling a large variety of fruit and veg.
 347. It is obvious that rents for shop premises in the village are too high which seems to be the reason Keyworth Country Wear's old premises remain unlet. Absentee landlords should be made to understand that large conurbation rents cannot apply to village environments. Local businesses vary in quality, which is normal for anywhere, but the community should find some way of encouraging such businesses to improve (maybe an annual award scheme?) and seek local support.
 348. The closing of the HSBC branch was a very retrograde step in the life of the community, and sits badly with their logo of "the world's LOCAL bank": some things MUST come before minor profit for a branch, and before major profit for shareholders (but perhaps the banks are now reaping their own poor reward - unfortunately, it's Joe Public who suffers!) While not the only reason, it seems the HSBC's closing was ONE among several factors in the electrical shop in the Square closing (although, fortunately, Ahmed in Storeys is rising to the occasion - and not taking advantage of us - an Islamic model for the Caucasians!)
 349. There may be a need for suitable premises either new build or conversion of existing - eg empty shops. Small businesses which operate from home should also be encouraged providing they do not cause disturbance to neighbours, when they should be encouraged to use suitable units.
 350. There are a lot of businesses that are VERY hard to track down. I'm curious to know what a lot of the businesses in Keyworth do. There are a lot tucked away in corners that quietly get on with whatever-it-is! Just being nosy really...
 351. Availability of parking may be an issue for some people, but for most residents, they could walk or cycle to any shops or businesses within the Keyworth area.
 352. I would support a greengrocers, coffee shop/deli, and fishmongers
 353. Very often local tradesmen are too busy and urgent work cannot be handled. Perhaps through lack of competition.
 354. In general, I feel we are fortunate in having a reasonably wide range of shops/services available.
 355. I always try to use local traders. I find that they are generally good, as they would not like to get a bad reputation within the village. Most charge reasonable prices, so there is no need to look further.
 356. I tend to do my big monthly grocery shop at ASDA, because it is quite a lot cheaper than shopping locally. Now petrol is getting so expensive, I would happily shop in the village if there were not such a price difference - it is probably 10 - 15% more expensive to shop locally. I do use local shops for top up shopping. I find shopping locally saves time. I think there is a really good range of shops. We always use local tradesmen if possible, and think they are usually reasonably priced and reliable. I think local people generally provide a good service, as they know it would damage their trade if they didn't - word of mouth can be very powerful.
 357. More and wider choice would make the village more economically vibrant and attract villagers and those from outlying areas. The transport infrastructure is delicate and needs to be developed in conjunction with any commercial or residential developments.
 358. There is a shortage of employment opportunities for low to medium skilled workers. Opportunities for development of individual's skills have not been capitalised upon. We need Job centre plus and training and development agencies accessible to the poorer families in the village.
 359. We would use local businesses if they were competitive.
 360. Too many take-aways. No decent Pub or English Restaurant. The Village lacks any character and has nothing to offer to people to encourage them to use Village shops or to pull anyone in from other local villages to bolster local trade. A weekly market, a café, somewhere to sit outside in our square. It’s generally boring with quite a few empty units. So people will go elsewhere.
 361. There is an excessive number of fast food outlets yet only one restaurants. Only one bank, one poor chemist and four mediocre public houses. There is a need for a market type-shopping outlet for fresh vegetables and fish.
 362. Keep control on the number of fast food outlets in the village, there is only so much demand and it only encourages teenagers to hang around in large groups dropping litter and increasing noise levels.
 363. I feel that Keyworth would benefit from having a new restaurant or bar. We have to go to West Bridgford for that when I think people would and spend that money in the village if it were possible.
 364. This is all fine and only a few new shops should be put in
 365. I think we should have a farmers market* and a fair-trade stall up on EVERY Tuesday and Saturday so that people can shop when they like. *But not too expensive
