   Comment Text
 1. Preserve ancient lands surrounding Keyworth and flatten the field near the village centre. This gives us the best of both worlds. It is foolish and dangerous to deliberately keep the huge field in the middle of the village uneven. It is hypocritical to preserve the one field that could be put to much better use, whilst failing to stop surrounding fields of equal significance from being conserved. The Parish Council should do something with the area around the burial ground.
 2. Litter problem is mainly around South Wolds school, the playing field and the Parade during term time. Why don't the school kids be made to go out litter picking every day, a different class at a time in their lunch break maybe.
 3. Coming from Nottingham it feels very nice and safe in Keyworth.
 4. Youths in cars racing at night round the village hall car park and round the village.
 5. What Nature Reserve?
 6. Dog dirt is disgusting and especially in Winter when it gets dark early. Local wardens and big fines would be fantastic. I've told people off before, but they don't seem to care about other people.
 7. It would be beneficial if there were security cameras at main entry and exit points in Keyworth.
 8. Would definitely like to see plastic bags banned and the Parish Council encourage local residents to leave their cars at home when shopping in Keyworth. This could be achieved by having a small affordable public transport system.
 9. Litter is a problem around some food outlets. Some areas, for example the Square and the Parade become gathering places for young people at night and can be quite threatening.
 10. The Government is making funding available for communities to become greener, Keyworth could apply for this if there is sufficient interest. We need better access (less stiles and more kissing gates, etc) on footpaths.
 11. More Policing required to remove youths hanging about round the Co-op which is very intimidating. They have already ruined the memorial seat outside the hairdressers.
 12. Renewable power scheme is totally unnecessary. It would be costly, visually and audibly unacceptable. More acceptable would be a scheme to ensure that all new build has solar heating incorporated at the outset and perhaps grants to add this to existing properties if so desired.
 13. I would use improved footpaths if they were wheelchair and/or mobility scooter friendly. Degradable plastic bags are ideal as they can be reused as bin liners thus keeping the wheelie bins clean. If these were not available then bin liners would have to be used and then there would be no advantage.
 14. Q17 none are BIG problems only a small problem.
 15. Street lighting is poor especially on Nottingham Road
 16. Personally I feel safe but my children aged 10 and 12 are afraid to walk freely
 17. It is up to individuals to clean up their own litter, not the shopkeepers. Education in this direction would be a better solution. Don't feel so safe after reading the list of crime in the May edition of the Diary.
 18. Litter worse is some areas and dog fouling also especially Main Street. More community spirit re litter needed by South Wolds pupils.
 19. Should have kerbside glass collection
 20. When the pubs close it can be noisy and slightly intimidating - especially for the Fairway.
 21. Already in Neighbourhood Watch Scheme
 22. A full time village policeman would be an advantage.
 23. Where is the Nature Reserve?
 24. Highbury Road has Neighbourhood Watch Scheme. Would like to see community planting in all areas, shrubs, trees etc NOT bedding plants.
 25. Keyworth is a clean, safe and middle class place, of course it could be better still.
 26. I have recently formed a Neighbourhood Watch Scheme for our road.
 27. Already a member of Neighbourhood Watch Scheme.
 28. It is hard on shop owners to sweep away other peoples rubbish, but what else can we do? More emphasis on litter in schools may help. Litter and dog fouling are only problems in a few localities, especially cut-through footpaths.
 29. What is a community based renewable power scheme? I compost veg waste and garden rubbish. I rarely go out in Keyworth at night unless accompanied.
 30. All the bus stops should have seating
 31. Litter and dog fouling is not so much a problem IN the village as on the edges of the village. A lot of litter is thrown out of car windows and has not been cleared up for years. The ditches are a mess. Better education is needed at an early age.
 32. Why community composting? We have our green bins! I always pick up after my dog and it annoys me too that others do not. It isn't only dog fouling that's a public health hazard though, cat faeces are too, but there seems to be double standards when it comes to how this is viewed.
 33. Some houses look messy and some front gardens seem to be a good place to dump old cars! More effort to improve/enhance the rural appearance of the village would be welcome, particularly in the Main Square!
 34. Man who clears Keyworth's streets does an excellent job.
 35. More rubbish bins needed. More dog bins needed on all grass areas.
 36. I generally feel safe. One of the biggest problems is dog fouling.
 37. Keyworth would be safer if it had a strong police presence. In a village this large it's a disgrace that we hardly see a policeman. Where does our council tax go!
 38. As I have walking difficulties the Nature Reserve and surrounding countryside is difficult to access. It would make things easier if Keyworth had better internal public transport, not just a circular bus service and the occasional Dunn line bus.
 39. Shops/traders should consider switching from plastic bags. Modbury in Devon is a very good example of what can be achieved, Keyworth should explore it. More local info and involvement in renewable energy options and energy efficiency would be very helpful.
 40. The bottle bank is well placed and well maintained
 41. A more visible police presence always deters trouble, bring back Plod on a bike!
 42. Disappointing amount of local footpaths joining Keyworth with neighbouring villages. Dog fouling seems to be rife on most pavements. I do feel safe although the rapist who attacked the teenage girl several years ago was never caught, that is a worry.
 43. Any scheme I would think about, but money is an issue and not everyone can afford to do what they/you want.
 44. Renewable power scheme- tentatively agrees but would depend what it is!
 45. Already belong to Neighbourhood Watch Scheme.
 46. Certain areas "attract" litter, for example outside South Wolds school.
 47. Generally village is good at supporting the environment.
 48. I find gangs of youth particularly in the Square intimidating at night. There should be volunteer dog fouling patrols to catch the filthy owners who don't clean up after their pets, name and shame them and issue them with huge fines!
 49. Food take away shops should be responsible for litter clearing.
 50. I use different routes if walking in Keyworth after dark.
 51. More police presence needed
 52. More should be done about the litter thrown into ditches especially down Bunny Lane.
 53. Because of my age and mobility I would never go out alone.
 54. Didn't know there was a Nature Reserve. Every effort should be given to control fly tipping.
 55. No further developments
 56. On Normanton lane we get litter thrown from car windows. Also dog fouling on the grass verges. ~Dog fouling on the corner of Normanton Lane and Nicker Hill
 57. Community 2meg home ownership wind turbine. Do not judge the value of Nature Reserve in terms of number of visitors.
 58. I don't feel safe when it’s dark. Never see any Police around.
 59. Most people re-use bags as bin liners. Stopping giving plastic bags will just increase sale of bin bags. Biodegradable plastic bags are available why not introduce these?
 60. Local shop owners should be able to STOP people from littering outside their premises. Individuals should be fined for littering and shop owners should be able to enforce such a scheme.
 61. I do not feel safe if I am at the shops when South Wolds school children are finishing school.
 62. I would not go out in the evening unless I was in the car.
 63. Would like to see South Wolds school getting pupils to pick up rubbish, as especially at lunchtimes they are generating it. Litter patrols of pupils.
 64. Already an organiser for Neighbourhood Watch Scheme.
 65. Surely it is the duty of the local authority to keep the streets clean and free of rubbish not the local shopkeepers.
 66. Q15 - comment but would like to more! I would like to know more about a renewable power scheme / compost scheme before expressing an opinion.
 67. I will probably visit the Nature Reserve on its open day. When I have visited without a guide being present I find it very difficult to appreciate the wonders which I am sure of there, but not obvious.
 68. Didn't know there was a Nature Reserve
 69. Didn't know about Nature Reserve
 70. There is an ongoing problem with litter, especially on South Wolds playing fields, pupils should be responsible for clearing their mess or it should be made clear that you don't drop it in the first place!
 71. Fly tipping seems to be in response to excessive cost of refuse removal. Council refuse costs are increasing, make disposals of large items, for example carpets/freezers more cost effective to householders.
 72. If there were more bins for rubbish and dog fouling, this would sort problems out.
 73. Keeping Keyworth tidy should be everyone’s responsibility, not just shop owners. Need to invest in infrastructure, resurfacing some of the pavements and car park at Tavern pub would make the place look tidier.
 74. Crime is low in Keyworth, however there are significant issues in local pubs, i.e. drugs. The Parish Council should acknowledge and recognise this and work closely with the Police to challenge landlords. Fairway/Plough/Tavern are particular problems. The Wysall Plough is a centre for drug distribution.
 75. As a trader of fresh food, i.e. meat, I have to abide by health laws, which includes plastic bags for my goods to be transported home.
 76. Neighbourhood watch scheme already in operation
 77. Perhaps it would be better to have a local policeman on hand to impose the litter dropping fines. 90% of litter outside Wolds Driveshops is the responsibility of a small group of people who descend on the shops at lunchtimes.
 78. I own a shop next to the Co-op and each day I have all the filth left by the kids, for example sandwiches, biscuits, bottles.
 79. Would like to see Police station open more often
 80. If the renewable power is for local people. Re compost scheme, would there be a collection scheme for the elderly and would households be able to buy back the compost?
 81. A map of all footpaths in the countryside around Keyworth should be made available on leaflets and placed in Health Centre, shops, Post office or placed in Keyworth News.
 82. When I visited the Nature Reserve I was disappointed with the access to the brook, I used to be able to walk along the bank but now it’s fenced off, it would be nice to do this again.
 83. Keyworth can look untidy at times, but this may be more due to factors such as untidy front gardens etc.
 84. More refuse bins please. Glass recycling collection please, we don't all have cars to go to bottle bank.
 85. Dog fouling on the Rec' is a constant issue, on a Saturday pre football games it is not uncommon to have to remove 5-6 dog piles from each of the 2 pitches.
 86. We already have green bin, which is completely adequate for our compost, and see no need for a community scheme.
 87. Conditions of many of the footpaths are a disgrace and in need of repair. When pushing an adult in a wheelchair you realise just how poor they are.
 88. Litter not too bad, room for improvement. Dog fouling gets worse, more signs needed. Crime has increased, rather than just publish a monthly list, need to have more emphasis and promotion to the community on crime reduction. Perhaps there should be a Village Hall meeting on this with the community officer to get views on what can be done to improve the problem.
 89. I'd be very cautious about composting because it attracts rats!
 90. Would join Neighbourhood Watch Scheme but don't have time to run one. Who would benefit from a power scheme/compost scheme?
 91. Didn't know there was a Nature Reserve, where is it? I live on a corner near a shop, both litter and noise pollution are big problems for me.
 92. Would like to see more Neighbourhood Watch Schemes.
 93. Didn't know there was a Nature Reserve. Don't feel safe anywhere in evenings.
 94. Dog fouling is disgraceful , we should have more dog wardens walking around and fine people for not clearing mess up. Put cameras up in areas that are worse hit with fly tipping and litter dropping, then name and shame them by printing their names on notice boards around the village and give them a big fine.
 95. Nature Reserve would have been better left as it was years ago when people and families could walk to the brook with their dogs and enjoy having picnics and watching kids playing in the countryside. I think the Nature Reserve has been set up by someone who does not have a clue about country life.
 96. All of the above would be reduced by increased foot patrols by the police
 97. It would be good if negotiations with local farmers could provide more 'linked' footpaths (for example bridleway past Nature Reserve is dead end. Footpath to sewage works could like to Wysall Road - all providing more circular walks Renewal power scheme etc not practical for a village - too expensive etc.
 98. Nature Reserve comment - didn't know it existed Dog fouling seems to have got worse recently
 99. With zero presence of police in Keyworth for the last 10 years and their unwillingness to take serious crime seriously Keyworth is becoming unsafe after dark.
 100. There is litter in Keyworth but not compared with Long Eaton where we used to live. I think that footpaths around Keyworth are good but we need more bridleways.
 101. Speeding on Normanton Lane
 102. There is a great lack of seating none on Price's Corner or even in the bus shelter
 103. Don't know where Nature Reserve is.
 104. We need to have the motorised road sweeper back on the streets
 105. Green issues have been blown out of all proportion for political reasons. Additional seating would only encourage young people to gather in gangs. We do not want wind turbines planted around the village thank you.
 106. Some people don't care about litter. Don't visit Nature Reserve since I got stopped with my dog.
 107. Dog fouling is not a big problem over the past 2-3 years it has improved.
 108. What Nature Reserve?
 109. Glass collection would be helpful. I drive to Cotgrave Leisure centre bottle bank to recycle glass which somewhat defeats the object!
 110. We are in Neighbourhood Watch Scheme
 111. What does renewable power mean? How would community compost scheme work?
 112. Wasn't aware of Nature Reserve in Keyworth. Probably visit Ruddington and Bunny Nature Reserve once a month.
 113. I feel safe in Keyworth during the daytime.
In the evening I don't go out.
Because of parked cars it is difficult to see oncoming cars when crossing the road at Bunny Lane. Coop and Brook View Drive
 114. Dog owners should keep their dogs on leads on Nottingham Road playing fields and this should be enforced, every day dogs are running around freely here.
 115. No knowledge of renewable power schemes
 116. A community based, renewable power scheme would be a good idea
This is a very biased way of asking about renewable energy without monitoring wind farms
Keyworth traders should stop issuing plastic bags, start issuing degradable bags and sell reusable bags
Refuse collections should be weekly - to keep bins cleaner we re-use plastic bags. Large black bags are not the answer
 117. Seems to be a minority of people not clearing up dog mess. We have had a couple of experiences late at night of damage to our cars parked on drive, smashed light and broken mirror.
 118. Litter is a problem on South Wolds playing fields
 119. Should be more police patrolling village at night
 120. No confidence that Police would be available if needed
 121. Power scheme? not specific enough
 122. Dog fouling on Selby Lane quite bad. Dogs also run free on the playing fields, can't people read the notices?
 123. I wish the Nature Reserve could be tidied/cleared up a bit more, particularly the overgrown parts near the brook, so it is more welcoming for families. There’s too much dog muck on Nottingham Road opposite the Rec', people should be fined.
 124. Dog fouling on the alleyways between Fairway/Mount Pleasant and The Ridings. Dog walkers seem to come out when it is dark. Chewing gum is a problem.
 125. Comment added to Dog fouling is a big problem in Keyworth 'Huge problem' the amount of dog excrement is appalling. After a year abroad it is back to constantly look down at our feet as we walk to school
 126. I do not feel safe at night in the area of the Square, Selby Lane, playing fields and Elm Avenue
 127. Some areas are a problem with litter. Dog fouling, still a few people who don't pick up and should be sorted, a few more bins would help
 128. Dog fouling is a big issue and could do with sorting.
 129. There is a concern about people from outside of the village using 'cars' to come in and cause 'trouble'
 130. Area between health centre and Wrights orchard including garage and path needs serious attention - it’s an eyesore!
 131. Dog fouling is a big problem in Keyworth.  Nobody is willing to take responsibility for neighbourhood watch in my area
 132. The wooded area at the bottom of Bunny Lane is subject to spasmodic fly tipping
 133. Seating in Keyworth is predominantly used by errant teenagers and not tired walkers pensioners and visitors. It would be another target for vandalism and graffiti
 134. Keyworth compares well with other places but litter does seem to be a problem when the children are out and dog fouling occurs in certain areas.
 135. I think there should be either the police or a designated person to take a good look round the recreational area first thing in a mornings / afternoon and search for hypodermic needles and questionable cigarettes thrown around from the previous evening - also beer bottles. Quite a few people have mentioned this when taking their dogs for a walk
 136. Not here long enough to be aware of immediate environment
 137. Although there are bins for dog owners to place their dog poo in, we still get irresponsible ones who allow their dogs to foul the footpaths especially in the alleyways between The Ridings, Mount Pleasant and Fairway. This is not good for children.
 138. Litter problem around local shops during lunch and break. Also around alleyways. Dog fouling around alleyways a major problem.
 139. Avoid wind farms
 140. Dog fouling in the alleys between The Ridings around Mount Pleasant and Mount Pleasant/ Fairway is a big problem.
 141. Traders could help with litter. Residents could also help.
 142. Dog fouling in the alleys between The Ridings and Mount Pleasant and between Mount Pleasant and Fairway. Owners do not clear up after their pets. Suggest cameras
 143. The area around The Parade particularly grim for rubbish etc. Also a place around the back of shops here where kids hang about and drugs are apparently available
 144. Question 16 - map comment - would be vandalised? Question 17 - big crossed out on first two parts
 145. Dog fouling is a major problem - as a dog owner who is responsible for 'picking up' after him it is noticeable that many dog owners 'look the other way' I would suggest this is an item frequently 'aired' in the Keyworth Diary to encourage those irresponsible owners to question their behaviour in this respect!
 146. I think there are more important issues than the environment to address at present when talking about Keyworth. Housing, shops and services need addressing first.
 147. Getting to the Nature Reserve is difficult as Lings Lane is not car or bicycle friendly and it is too far to walk - as you get older and not so agile. If I could get there I would visit it regularly
 148. Generally Keyworth is a pleasant place to live - there is some litter and it would be good if this were dealt with - do we still have someone cleaning up litter? Could we have a litter-picking day? I am not worried about my personal safety in Keyworth but usually travel by car at night.
 149. I am too old to join Neighbourhood Watch Scheme
 150. The thought of renewable energy sources i.e. wind turbines fills both of us with horror! To monitor what waste is deposited in a community compost container would be difficult if not impossible. Traders should be free to supply any bags they see fit.
 151. We belong to a neighbourhood watch scheme
 152. Road cleaning is very rarely seen on Lowlands Drive - once a year appears to be the norm
 153. Neighbourhood Watch comment - I thought I was in one!
 154. The path from Plumtree Park down to the nursery is a death trap. When pushing a pushchair it pulls you towards the road and is very narrow. I rang Rushcliffe Borough Council and to their credit did resurface it but did not dig back the encroaching verge. It is also dangerous to cross the road where the path runs out!
 155. Neighbourhood watch? Already in one
 156. Agree to a compost scheme
 157. Dog Owners need to understand why they should clear up after their dogs. The toxacara worm threat is a real problem and should be highlighted. Rushcliffe Borough Council should be more accountable and proactive in fining owners who do not clean up after their dogs. The council appears to be uninterested in Rushcliffe outside West Bridgford and Dog Fouling is one area which highlights this.
 158. Wonderful idea
 159. We feel the area surrounding Wolds drive shops needs to be improved and provision for parking should be increased.
 160. Residents could be encouraged not to drop litter though, perhaps a campaign to highlight the problem.
 161. Already in neighbourhood watch.
 162. Don't feel safe anywhere in the evening when by myself
 163. More dog poo bins please
 164. Something should be done about fly tipping down Platt Lane, and a wider road, plus speed signs.
 165. Litter around South Wolds is disgusting. The litter collector does a good job but he goes at the wrong time (usually before lunch)
 166. I object strongly to wind turbines and degradable bags are not yet proven to be without production of harmful substances as they degrade, more testing is required.
 167. Potential danger posed by cyclists without bells using public footpaths.
 168. Nature Reserve could do with more seating and picnic areas for families. A toilet somewhere would be good for extended visits.
 169. Litter generated from takeaways, especially on Parade, should be cleaned up by the shopkeepers. Also the school should take more responsibility for litter dropped by their pupils, this is especially relevant to South Wolds.
 170. Didn't know there was a Nature Reserve.
 171. Have a look at school playing field, litter is a disgrace.
 172. Dog fouling still something of a problem - much less than 15 years ago. Already a member of a neighbourhood watch not sure what a 'community based renewable power scheme' is! Maybe I’d agree if I did
 173. Already in neighbourhood watch scheme
 174. Extra public seating would be a good idea if used properly and not vandalised. Bus shelters seem to attract graffiti
 175. Already have Neighbourhood Watch Scheme.
 176. Bottle bins should be provided and grey bins emptied weekly in the summer months. After emptying green bins are left on footpath, they should be left behind gate.
 177. Litter is a problem in village Square and the park during the weekends.
 178. Paved area in front of Parade shops is not good. Flats on Parade have disgusting fascias, all need smartening up. Pot holes in roads and kerbside weeds. Keyworth could be a lot smarter given the rates we pay. Not a lot spent on our infrastructure.
 179. Litter is only a problem on the Parade shops and takeaways, more bins emptied more frequently would help.
 180. An improved footpath system or country park as at Ruddington or Cotgrave would encourage more usage. The Nature Reserve is a wonderful thing but I cannot walk my dog there. Something/where that can be visited on part of a circular walk would encourage more people to use them/it.
 181. I commend the man employed by the County/Rushcliffe council who cleans up our village so well. IMPOSE penalties on those who allow their dogs to foul our village.
 182. What does renewable power scheme mean? Why does West Bridgford look so well catered for with good parks, good pavements and lots of places to cross the roads? We need as much care and attention to our facilities/needs, more lighting would be good.
 183. Take-aways should clear up rubbish if it's theirs. Much less dog dirt than previously.
 184. Environment is generally good and Keyworth is a pleasant place to live and walk round during the day. I do not feel threatened when out and about in evenings but always use the car. Chewing gum is main problem around the Parade.
 185. Nottinhamshire County Council should clear litter and fallen leaves more often
 186. More recycle plants and a compost scheme is needed.
 187. Tried Neighbourhood Watch Scheme, very temporary interest from most neighbours.
 188. My garden/drive/street is constantly blighted by litter (food wrappers, chip papers, plastic bottles) and dog excrement.
 189. Didn't know there was a Nature Reserve! Where is it and where is it advertised? Power scheme/ compost scheme would depend on, what it is, where it is, how much it will cost and what benefits they provide.
 190. Where is the Nature Reserve? Renewable power scheme would very much depend on the sort of scheme used. Community compost would depend on the size, location, cost etc.
 191. Dog fouling is a massive problem. People let their dogs roam freely around Park Avenue and Croft Road that adds to the problem. There are enough bins but owners don't care to pick it up (I’m a dog owner)
 192. I counted 12 lots of dog excrement within 50 yards on Park Avenue! There needs to be more signs of fines in these areas and more prosecutions of owners who flout the law, or who let their dogs out to roam on their own.
 193. Public seating in Keyworth is usually covered in spit, chewing gum, and litter and surrounded by dog mess. You are safe in Keyworth if you don't upset people and you don't rely on the police. Education facilities for parents and children should be given to encourage picking up litter.
 194. No one feels safe at night due to the gangs hanging about on street corners.
 195. Not as safe at night as it used to be
 196. The route to the Nature Reserve is difficult to use with a pushchair, perhaps a better pathway could be introduced, as this would make a nice spot for a picnic, also need better signposts for Nature Reserve.
 197. Feel safe most of the time except when big groups of youths hanging around the shops.
 198. Need a bigger Neighbourhood Watch scheme.
 199. Keyworth is a nice place to live and we feel safe living here.
 200. Groups hang around the Square late evenings near the Co-op and Somerfields, wary when walking past on my own.
 201. Dog fouling is a major problem, dog owners should be responsible for their pets, there are enough bins around, we are tired of cleaning up doggy do from our private property.
 202. Particular problem is school playing field where cans etc are dumped, in full view of the path leading to Village Hall.
 203. A smaller version of Ruddington country park would be a great enhancement to the village in terms of nature conservation and as a leisure facility, especially if it were linked to an extended foot/cycle path network.
 204. A centrally located small park/garden is needed, Keyworth is becoming a "brickyard" more trees should be planted. A warden should enforce byelaws on dog fouling and littering of streets. Need a more visible police presence.
 205. In some areas dog fouling is worse, main places are the walkway near the bowls club to Church Dr and Main Street, more near the top end near Lings Lane.
 206. Dog fouling much improved but still a problem down Main Street. Renewable power scheme would be too costly.
 207. Overall impression of Keyworth is poor due to a general tattiness, of patched pavements and very poor road surfaces.
 208. The litter on South Wolds school field should be cleared by the students on a rota basis. This eyesore is getting worse
 209. I am already in a neighbourhood watch scheme
 210. We would need further details of a renewable power scheme to enable us to form an opinion. We feel wary about allowing our young teenage daughter out on her own in the evening although we feel quite safe
 211. I already belong to a neighbourhood watch scheme and I think it is brilliant, gives me piece of mind
 212. What is a renewable power scheme? I would support wind power. A compost scheme would be good if you could “buy back’” at a reasonable cost
 213. I would prefer seating in the bus shelters rather than dotted about the village.
 214. I wouldn't feel 100% safe walking anywhere in the dark
 215. Although' I do think that shopkeepers should clear up outside their premises the main culprits of litter are school children, and when taken to task about it, just give you verbal abuse.
 216. We should co ordinate all activities with local authority i.e. rubbish collection compost etc to be independent can cause more harm
 217. There can be a lot of dog dirt particularly on Selby Lane and Nicker Hill, I often get it on the baby's pram. I didn't know there was a Nature Reserve, it should be advertised.
 218. Already belong to Neighbourhood Watch Scheme. Children and Young People should be taught to be responsible for their own litter, I don't see why shops should have to clear up after them!
 219. People without private transport are at an acute disadvantage if they wish to attend any events in the wintertime, roads needs better lighting!
 220. We have a Neighbourhood Watch scheme.
 221. I have no reason to feel unsafe in the evenings other than being disabled, elderly and anxious. I did belong to a Neighbourhood Watch Scheme which worked very well, we were fed regular info from the police via our co-ordinator, but suddenly this all ended and you had to have a computer and/or e-mail facilities, now we have nothing!
 222. We find the Neighbourhood Watch Scheme not very helpful, would prefer Police patrols.
 223. Litter is a problem on the Parade and by the school. Having a dedicated cleaner here is a big help.
 224. School kids cause litter. I feel unsafe when kids are in mobs up the park and in the village waiting for buses going from school. I would need to know more about the power question, but all in all Keyworth seems pretty green with recycling etc.
 225. There should be more dog bins and more control over wardens who do not pick up dog litter. Some fly tipping on outskirts, maybe disposing of larger items should be made less difficult.
 226. More bins with lids would be a good idea all around the village. More dog bins, I always clear up after my dog but end up carrying it a long way, which is not pleasant.
 227. Individuals should be responsible for their own litter. Having to spend a lot of time removing other peoples rubbish from my garden, I have a strong opinion of these people.
 228. Plastic bags themselves are not a problem, they are useful, and the problem is there isn't a proper recycling method of disposing of them. Q17, these are all problems, which can easily escalate without continuing vigilance.
 229. Dog fouling needs sorting out!
 230. As a dog owner I would appreciate more dog bins, at present they are few and far between. There are only 2 on Manor Road for the whole council estate; people do not like carrying it once it’s bagged!
 231. Litter situation has improved since Borough council have started Streetwise.
 232. There are some inconsiderate dog owners who don't clear up after their pets.
 233. Shop owners should encourage their customers not to litter, but it’s not their responsibility. Small shops should encourage customers to re-use bags, but they may not be able to afford biodegradable bags, margins are very tight. Dog fouling is a BIG problem. What about this idea, maybe by making a community compost scheme, selling compost at discount rate and then using the profit to fund a "Keyworth Bag" (biodegradable) to give to local shops for their customers use.
 234. We are in Neighbourhood Watch Scheme.
 235. Joined Neighbourhood Watch Scheme many years ago, sign are broken or disappeared, don't know if it’s still in force. Dog fouling on playing field.
 236. Mixed feelings about Neighbourhood Watch Schemes because of time commitment, we already keep an eye on neighbour’s properties when they are away and watch out for each other.
 237. Keyworth seems to be very slow in coming to terms with the challenges of climate change. Raising awareness of issues such as energy saving/ buying local food/ living sustainable is crucial. Some kind of community garden for vegetable growing, composting etc might provide a good focal point for this and would also help to foster a stronger sense of community.
 238. Dog fouling, every day I walk my son to Willowbrook school from Dale Road and it’s on every path we use! It’s a very big problem.
 239. Catch children from the schools that drop litter and get them litter picking; they leave a trail from school. Educate them more about littering. Clamp down on dog owners who foul the paths and the Rec', not enough being done.
 240. Knowledge of local footpaths needs increasing. Fly tipping, dog fouling and graffiti are still a problem
 241. Not enough police or traffic wardens in and around the village.
 242. Dog fouling can be a nuisance with wheelchair. I am in Neighbourhood watch scheme.
 243. Need more dog bins in the "tree" estate area, for example Beech Avenue.
 244. I would need to know details of renewable power scheme before I could form an opinion
 245. Didn't know about Nature Reserve until recent Keyworth News.
 246. Didn't know there was a Nature Reserve.
 247. Not enough rubbish bins in the village. Should be more police in Keyworth to make the rude and selfish drivers obey the laws of the road.
 248. Litter and dog fouling seems to be endemic in certain areas of Keyworth, the passages between Mt Pleasant and Fairway seem to be pretty bad. It should be noted that there has been no prosecutions that I can recall.
 249. More places for horses to be ridden off road around Keyworth. One option may be to arrange several paths with local farmers through their land, with riders paying yearly to use it and wearing an armband to show membership to the scheme.
 250. Key point is the responsibility of each person, we shouldn't drop litter or let dogs foul where people walk, maybe the shop owners might clear up outside their shops, but it isn't really their responsibility. Why do horse riders think it’s OK to ride along busy roads such as bus routes and let their horses mess all over the road, Why is this tolerated?
 251. Dog fouling is a serious problem down alleyways, a better way of deterring this would be welcome. There appears to be a small number of people who are engaged in vandalism-type activities and again better ways of stopping this would be welcome, A sense of safety can be undermined by these activities.
 252. Litter and food waste around Wolds Driveshops, especially in Tavern car park. This blows down the Fairway and deposits in front gardens.
 253. A footpath along Platt Lane to Normanton on the Wolds would be extremely useful and should be looked at urgently from a pedestrian safety viewpoint.
 254. Alley between Mt Pleasant and Fairway is disgusting with dog mess.
 255. Kerbside Glass collection should be introduced, 1 glass-recycling site is not sufficient.
 256. Litter is disgusting especially on school playing field. Dog fouling is major problem in alleys between Mt Pleasant, Fairway and The Ridings, especially difficult when walking there at night.
 257. Dog wardens should patrol at night, this is when fouling occurs, and take very positive action with very large fines, nothing is being done about this.
 258. Dog fouling is a big problem in alleyways where people think they can't be seen. especially Mt Pleasant to the Fairway. Litter and discarded food around Budgens and the Parade at school lunchtimes is a problem.
 259. We are very lucky in Keyworth to have largely avoided troubles from undesirables. It would be more comforting if you felt this was due to action by the authorities rather than sheer luck. I'd like to see a greater police presence on a daily basis, especially in the evenings. Dog fouling owners caught, should simply be shot!
 260. Dog fouling is much more of a problem in the winter. Having volunteered on the Willowbrook walking bus for the past 2 years we constantly have to call out to the children to avoid the dog poo.
 261. Concern about the dog mess and weeds etc on alleyways between Fairway/Mt Pleasant/The Ridings. Rarely cleaned, hazard for partially sighted.
 262. Was not aware of the Nature Reserve.
 263. Local map of countryside and paths is a great idea. Where is the Nature Reserve, never seen it advertised anywhere?
 264. It's time action was taken about irresponsible dog owners letting dogs foul walkways.
 265. Dog fouling is disgraceful, especially in alleyways on the Fairway/Mt Pleasant. It's always covered in dog muck and it’s disgusting to expect people to walk through an area where it's a major problem. On the spot fines may help or more bins available.
 266. Litter, dog fouling (and horse fouling), fly tipping, graffiti and fly posting should always be on the agenda, so therefore, even though' we feel it's a low concern at present, we must ensure that it's a regular issue for reflection!
 267. Thurlby Lane is used for fly tipping, lots of beer cans dumped there.
 268. Dog fouling is one of the main problems, especially around Mt Pleasant and the Ridings area where the alleyways are sometimes no go areas due to the amount.
 269. Alley between Mt Pleasant and Fairway is rarely free of dog dirt. Have to tread very carefully when using it during hours of darkness.
 270. Although' a member of Neighbourhood watch originally, when the 2 leaders moved, no one was approached/ no general information given as to how to continue it. Wish to know more about Smart Water.
 271. We used to have Neighbourhood watch on Mt Pleasant but it has lapsed.
 272. I am extremely fed up with the amount of dog fouling on pavements and playing field. We have a toddler who likes to play on the field but often can't due to amount of dog mess and dogs who are not kept on leads. Also the pavements are a disgrace, trying to dodge dog mess with a pushchair is not easy and it must be the same for wheelchair users, and they have to use their wheelchairs in their homes!
 273. Could we have more trees/ a small forest planted on the edge somewhere. Dog fouling is disgraceful, some residents do not care about others. Should be customers who drop litter in the 1st place, not the shopkeepers, these customers are, again, youngsters on their way to and from school. Maybe a big local campaign would make them think of others.
 274. Noise is a problem especially around the Parade, due to the shape of the land (bowl shaped) where the sounds echo.
 275. A lot of uninvited people arrive at houses. E.g. people trying front doors, things thrown at house, plant pots put in road.
 276. Litter - Platt Lane, Willowbrook allotments near footpath. Dog fouling - alley Mt Pleasant to Fairway. Graffiti - Platt Lane water works.
 277. We are members of Neighbourhood watch, but it appears to be dormant. More effective local police would be more valued.
 278. I wish to record that police action against acts of vandalism and criminal damage is well below an acceptable level. Over the last 2 years we have on 8 or so occasions suffered damage, costing £700 to put right, all we've had in return is a crime number. The last promise of a visit never materialised. The police seem conspicuous by their absence after 5pm.
 279. What Nature Reserve? Excessive dog fouling around many areas, its worse in winter, because people think they can get away with it in the dark. Quite often my children step into it on their way to school!
 280. Dog fouling is disgraceful. Fines (heavy ones) should be a reality not just an impotent notice on a lamppost.
 281. People should be made more aware of the walks around Keyworth. Dog fouling is awful near the school. Litter is bad near shops and school. Fly tipping in the lanes around Keyworth is getting bad.
 282. There is a lack of seating - Price's Corner, even in the bus shelter
 283. What do you mean by 'safe'? I don't feel that there is a likelihood of suffering death or serious injury but there is a distinct possibility of being intimidated by loutish behaviour in certain locations at certain times.
 284. Any litter is a problem. The Parade area can suffer at times, as does the Rectory field, especially on a Friday evening when broken bottles can be a major problem.
 285. Dog fouling is particular nuisance on the alleyway from Mt Pleasant to the Fairway. The playing field adjacent to South Wolds is frequently covered in litter, it's an eyesore.
 286. No unsightly wind turbines. A country park would be nice around outskirts of village (for example. off Platt Lane), it would also prevent any future house building. The hedgerows along Platt Lane are a disgrace because of litter. Alleyways on Wimpey estate are frequently littered with dog dirt.
 287. I would not use public seating but I'm sure the elderly/ less able would benefit.
 288. More evident policing might improve the litter problem and fines for people who drop litter or for their parents. Chewing gum near South Wolds is disgusting, it looks like Nottingham! Charity bags appearing, 5 or 6 in a week, are never collected empty.
 289. Bridleways and rural footpaths are not maintained enough. Stiles are not built with tall dogs( ie. greyhounds) in mind. Deep ruts filled with water are hazardous to walkers. Several road signs need replacing i.e. Nicker Hill/Willowbrook.
 290. Dog fouling appears to be on the increase. The alley between Mt Pleasant and Fairway is like an obstacle course.
 291. Already belong to Neighbourhood Watch Scheme.
 292. Renewable power scheme, depends on which type is envisaged.
 293. Some action needs to be taken in respect of the approach roads of the village, Station Road, Platt Lane, Bunny Lane have enormous amount of litter in the hedgerows at all times. I have never seen any council worker in these areas. Litter is very bad in the village centre. Dog fouling is also a problem, there are still people who ignore this aspect when dog walking, and it’s a health risk. Some drivers throw litter from moving cars.
 294. Didn't know there was a Nature Reserve! Q17 I consider the authorities look after Keyworth very well.
 295. Living outside the area that is covered by the street cleaner, litter is constantly thrown from cars on Station Road and Platt Lane making this a haven for rats. Beer cans, broken bottles are constantly thrown from cars.
 296. Renewable power scheme- would need to know more.
 297. It would be helpful to know how to get hold of an allotment plot if instructions were put up there
 298. Although I feel safe in the evenings that is because I have a dog, perhaps if I had not I wouldn't go out so much.
 299. There's a Nature Reserve? Too many nasty looking dogs! Very intimidating.
 300. Some paths are like walking an obstacle course because of dog mess. I have to wash the path where I live often, I have reported it, but little has been done.
 301. I am a member of a Neighbourhood Watch and welcome the crime reports and other useful information which I receive from Rushcliffe Community Watch on line.
 302. Litter and rubbish dumped in peoples gardens need clearing by the homeowners that dump it there. Weeds growing in the gutter look unsightly (Hayes Road)
 303. Why no mention of chewing gum problem?
 304. If the people who run sports events down Platt Lane would check for discarded cans, cups etc instead of leaving them in the hedge bottom it would tidy up the place. I have personally picked up poly-cups and binned them, not really my responsibility. Dog fouling can be a problem, don't know the answer. There are bins around, just idle owners. Maybe a notice in Keyworth News would jolt a few consciences.
 305. Need info on Neighbourhood Watch Schemes. Need wider availability of info re Nature Reserve.
 306. Sometimes litter on Platt Lane when people have been watching matches. Sometimes dog fouling.
 307. More shops and businesses should recycle better, need the facilities ...FREE OF CHARGE! LIKE HOMES GET BLUE BINS.
 308. Didn't know we had a Nature Reserve. More litter and dog waste bins.
 309. It is useful to have the police contact point but it would be more reassuring to see police on the streets, especially in view of our recent increased crime figures. Less bureaucracy and more physical contact with the public would help.
 310. I helped to set up the local Neighbourhood watch in North Keyworth, one of the largest. Initially we had very good co-operation from the police, but in the mid 90's PC Willis retired and we thereafter received very little co-operation and the watch disbanded.
 311. We support reasonable concern for the environment but not to the exclusion of common sense. NB The Footpaths Association poster seems to take up an unreasonable amount of space provided by the Parish Council and Library, in comparison with other groups who have to fight for space.
 312. Around the Village Hall, when it’s dark, is the only place where young people can feel intimidating. They loiter around the Centenary Lounge area.
 313. A seat in Lings Lane would be appreciated.
 314. Dog fouling on pavements is a problem, as both a parent and responsible dog owner there should be no excuse but more bins should be provided and more policing of the offenders.
 315. We would go to Nature Reserve more often if dogs were allowed. Fly tipping occurs at end of Debdale Lane.
 316. May be if we had to walk in Keyworth at night we may well feel a little intimidated by certain groups of people, but in the car we feel safe.
 317. Didn't know we had a Nature Reserve.
 318. The end of Debdale Lane has a bin for dog mess, but it looks as though nobody ever uses it. It's difficult to walk down there as there is so much all over the path. A renewable power scheme would be a great idea, we get a lot of wind here.
 319. Q17. These can be problems but not big ones. We have many dog bins and Rushcliffe Borough Council does clear litter and graffiti regularly. Where would a map of Keyworth de displayed? Surely the library has information. What is intended for a renewable power source? Where would that be placed? A windmill on Selby Lane!
 320. Horse riders should clean up after them as dog owners do.
 321. Fly posting- community communication in many forms for example posters in bus shelters help make a vibrant community.
 322. Can dogs now go in Nature Reserve? The stiles on footpaths need to be more dog friendly. New footpath between Keyworth and Normanton along Platt Lane.
 323. Try to use my own bags for shopping. However biodegradable plastic would be better and a plastic bag can be useful sometimes. The buyer has a responsibility as well as the trader. South Wolds pupil’s council should address the issue of litter around the Parade and school fields.
 324. Not so much Neighbourhood Watch but more Police being seen.
 325. I know some people feel intimidated to walk across the Rec' or through the Square, and will not even go out or will walk an alternative longer route to avoid the area.
 326. Public footpaths are good enough already.
 327. Most of the litter is around the secondary school. The school field is a disgrace. The teachers and pupils should be ashamed.
 328. I feel safe in the evenings unless groups of people are hanging around being intimidating.
 329. The police as a service are not mentioned in this survey. I would like to SEE a beat bobby regularly, I never see anyone apart from sitting in the office at Police point, where are they?
 330. Should be a complete ban on bonfires at all times. Control of scooters going continually around the village.
 331. Litter is still a big problem although better since deployment of street cleaner in certain areas. Use of "community order" offenders to help clear areas would be good.
 332. Already in Neighbourhood watch.
 333. Litter all over the place and may not belong to shop owners. Take-aways should encourage their customers to dispose of wrappers inside their shops.
 334. I would love to be able to walk more around the outside of Keyworth, across fields, etc.
 335. Q16. It would be nice but local shop owners are not always responsible for litter outside their premises, it’s the passers-by. The Nature Reserve is a long walk down a muddy lane and is not much to see when you finally get there.
 336. The old footpath by the Fairway pub is very neglected with litter and overgrown trees.
 337. Large trees should be pruned. The public footpath alongside the Fairway pub has sycamore etc, and reduces light to the retirement bungalows on Feignies Court.
 338. Already have a Neighbourhood Watch Scheme but do not have regular meetings or know what it does. Better litter bins should be available, especially near shops and take-aways. We should have fines for dropping litter.
 339. Keyworth generally is a very safe area. However in the evening and weekends especially there are a few hotheads who treat the roads of Keyworth as a race track. More obvious policing would help to counter this problem.
 340. Plastic bag issue is nonsense! Carrier bags are used for all sorts of things, for example household rubbish, muddy shoes, changes of clothing. Banning them will just mean that the same number have to be bought, no change for the environment. Recycling centre is needed and info on how to get larger items collected. Promote the value of the seasons, awareness of the weather and rainwater disposal, champion the allotments, get local produce in shops, have a market for groceries also for 2nd hand goods, make better use of village community centre and improve the festival. The key is to have the means to employ a few dynamic people as community support workers to help local people make things happen quickly and easily.
 341. Church Dr benefits from a council cleaner and dog fouling bins, without these resources litter would build up.
 342. As a female living alone I feel very vulnerable. I have had my car broken into on my driveway and feel intimidated by the tenants of the flats behind my house. My dogs have been verbally abused and I dare not use my garden when they are on the balcony, which is almost every evening in warm weather.
 343. Couldn't find the Nature Reserve.
 344. Degradable bags are bad for environment. We should be using re-useable bags. Plastic degradable can leave plastic residue. More fully degradable bags going to landfill just make more CO2 and CH4, they only have a role if they are being used for composting.
 345. Litter and fast food outlets are closely related. Any pressure that can be brought to bear on the owners/tenants of these places, and which would encourage patrons to avoid litter, would be useful.
 346. Neighbourhood watch schemes are good idea but a lot of people don't want to be personally involved.
 347. Litter is not a big problem, but it is in limited areas, i.e. shops, schools and surrounding gardens.
 348. Not sure what renewable power scheme would entail.
 349. I understand that the Nature Reserve is hard to access for the less abled and there are no facilities. Please make the area suitable for all people in all weather.
 350. Where is Nature Reserve?
 351. Before daily clean-ups, the litter in front of parade shops is disgraceful (including the bus shelter). This is only apparent when cleaning staff are late or sick!
 352. Litter is a lot better since we have had a street cleaner, although youths do leave a lot of litter in evenings on playing fields. They should be made to pick it up.
 353. I live opposite Wolds Driveshops and I get a huge amount of litter in my front garden, most of it dropped by South Wolds pupils who lunch outside on the Parade. Shops should be responsible, but it wouldn't hurt for the schools of Keyworth to spend some time litter picking so the pupils can learn the consequences of littering.
 354. I have complained to South Wolds school before about amount of litter that I have to collect from my front garden daily. It’s getting to be a problem. I have had no response at all and feel something needs to be done about it.
 355. More litter and dog fouling bins, with careful consideration where these are placed, so not to cause problems for homeowners. Floral displays throughout the year in the Square and main thoroughfares. Landlords to take responsibility for maintenance of property.
 356. Already a good footpath system around Keyworth
 357. Renewable power scheme would not be financially viable. Public footpath already used, improvement would not increase use.
 358. Litter is responsibility of the council (taxes are high enough). More dog litter bins needed throughout the village. More police foot patrols and drive rounds required, especially at night.
 359. School children should be made to clear up litter outside the Parade and around their school. This could be arranged by the school (1 team on litter duty) and would probably have an impact on them.
 360. Although I have said no to public seating, I'm sure it would be appreciated by more mature members of the village
 361. We are responsible dog owners and continually have to pick up outside our house. Dog wardens would be self-financing, 5 catches a week @ £80 = £400, council might even make a profit!
 362. A map of the local countryside showing the public footpaths would be very useful, either in the village or available as a leaflet or similar.
 363. Not enough litter bins on the routes the children take, to and from school.
 364. All recyclable materials, for example plastic bags and tetra packs should be able to be put in blue bins.
 365. It is noticeable during school holidays, when children walk the dog that the fouling increases.
 366. Public toilets urgently required. Crossing needed in the Square as very dangerous to cross road on corner nr Selby Lane and top of Bunny Lane
 367. Already in Neighbourhood watch. Crime levels too high and community policing non-existent
 368. As we live in a cul-de-sac I do feel that Neighbourhood watch is not so important, as we all look out for each other.
 369. Keyworth has a very pleasant environment. It's very important to keep it that way, even if it costs more in terms of money and effort.
 370. Q18 not after 11pm
 371. Horse fouling is a problem. How come horse owners are allowed to leave huge piles of poo on the road?
 372. The youth element seems to rule the village at night, I think more public seating would just mean more areas to congregate, drink and be aggressive.
 373. Can the Nature Reserve be visited at any time, or only on open days and where is it?
 374. Erection of any more telephone masts should be banned.
 375. Only a few individuals are inconsiderate, a local police presence in evenings would perhaps deter this.
 376. Would be nice to see police presence occasionally in village. People are ignoring dog fouling signs on Village Hall field.
 377. Litter is problem in limited areas
 378. Already in Neighbourhood Watch Scheme, very active and useful.
 379. Already in Neighbourhood watch. Policing of streets is inadequate. Why should we pay for a police activity on local taxes, when it is sidetracked to problem areas like Cotgrave? Let Cotgrave pay more for the services they need to support their crime statistics
 380. Dog fouling sign up on Rec', however dogs should be on leads, children play there and it’s not fair to have dogs running around, many children are scared.
 381. Q 17. They are problems but not big. Although awful lot of dog fouling on playing fields where children play, especially those by Village Hall. Already in neighbourhood watch scheme.
 382. Litter is a problem near school and leisure centre. Nature Reserve should be sign posted, I didn't know about it until recently. Pavements/road surfaces on Normanton Lane are dreadful. When I walk to work in the rain, I arrive drenched because passing cars cannot avoid puddles in road.
 383. Are there any ways in which people can be encouraged to walk around the village rather than drive? Everywhere in Keyworth is walkable. Also a map of where the dog 'poo' bins are could be published in the Keyworth News to help their owners plan their walks. It would also highlight where bins are needed.
 384. My wife and several neighbours are seeking to initiate a neighbourhood watch scheme in the Beech Avenue vicinity. Need to be watchful over local environment - not all development is improvement. Schemes need to be weighed and sifted very carefully by a locally based group - not afraid to challenge officialdom operating at a distance. Too many people telling us what we need and/or what would be good for us without true and proper grass root consultation and debate. As a community we no longer live in balance with our environment - both locally and nationally. This fragile balance needs looking at and considering at both levels.
 385. Q15 There is no access for the disabled to the Nature Reserve. If we had a proper police presence we wouldn't heed neighbourhood watch. Been here 14years and never seen one.
 386. Already in Neighbourhood watch.
 387. Already belong to Neighbourhood watch
 388. Already in Neighbourhood watch. Dog fouling on Village Hall playing field is a disgrace
 389. Dog fouling is a big problem on playing fields. The answer is to ban all dogs from going onto the grass and to keep them on short leads when walking through the Rec', playing areas are not for exercising dogs.
 390. Already in Neighbourhood watch.
 391. Already belong to Neighbourhood Watch Scheme
 392. Certain areas of countryside are not cleared of rubbish often enough, regularly relying on residents to phone "streetwise", the site in question is Debdale Lane, wooded area near the industrial units. The council should clear the area weekly.
 393. Composting- there is a scheme already run by Rushcliffe borough
 394. I don't know where the Nature Reserve is, despite looking!
 395. Dogs should not be allowed on village sports pitches, health issue!
 396. Should be active discouragement of car use, this is for safety and environment reasons. Also ban through traffic and large lorries coming through the village.
 397. Renewable power scheme would depend on what it was, and its potential impact.
 398. Trees could be planted along verges where this is possible, 2 have been removed from Debdale Lane, yet there is plenty of room for them.
 399. I feel safe if walking with another, but do not venture out to the short cuts in the evening, (cutting through the Rec and medical centre car park)
 400. People should be responsible for their own litter and rubbish, if not they should be cleared and receive a bill for removal.
 401. We should be proud that the littering issue isn't too bad, thanks to the bins and the council workers that collect it. Dog fouling is terrible, even with the new dog bins, owners let dogs foul close to them. I have an open garden and dogs foul my lawn, it is adults causing the problem.
 402. At night, particularly in late October/Nov there are often large crowds of teenagers hanging about around the council estate, the park and near Budgens. There have been attacks on cars and property, a large police raid in early Nov 07 quietened and improved things since then.
 403. Don't know where Nature Reserve is.
 404. I am disgusted by the backing of our supposed Community police officer
 405. Should be toilets which can be used 7 days a week, not just Mon-Fri @ Health centre. We had them before and need them again.
 406. Instead of lots of people putting individual solar panels on their roofs and wind turbines, one big one in a field would be much better. I have a garden, I grow things and you're not having my compost. Plastic bags, condensing boilers, fluorescent bulbs, there is a difference between giving people a better choice and taking away their other options because they didn't pick the one you wanted them to. If they didn’t take up the option, then maybe there are problems with it that you hadn't thought of.
 407. Something should be done about amount of dog mess, its very off-putting and unsightly.
 408. Don't feel that there is a MAJOR problem with cleanliness, but we could all do a bit more. I have always felt totally safe.
 409. Dog fouling on Manor Road.
 410. Where’s Nature Reserve?
 411. In Nature Reserve I would like to see some species helped to maintain their presence. for example In Staffordshire I plant cowslips raised from local plant seed to raise their numbers, which were decimated by sheep grazing.
 412. No public toilets in Keyworth over the weekend since construction of Health Centre.
 413. Roads and pavements are deteriorating rapidly in all parts of Keyworth and require concerted effort to tidy and repair. My road in particular needs resurfacing. Adams Hill has several sunken drains which are dangerous.
 414. Safe place to live, but like all built up areas has issues at times. As long as we have police support it will be controlled. Residents must continue to be vigilant and report any issues.
 415. Renewable power scheme- please focus on tangible issues, I would strongly oppose windmills like the ugly, noisy monstrosity at Rushcliffe country park. In 20 years we will have new generation of nuclear power stations and drive hydrogen-cell cars.
 416. Litter is never cleared, where are council cleaners? Don't ever enlist us for "Best kept village" we would be laughed out of contest.
 417. Why aren't the streets cleaned automatically any more, this would help with the litter problem and why don't the schools point out to their pupils the nuisance it causes, or perhaps how ignorant it is to throw litter down.
 418. What is a renewable power scheme? I don't think Neighbourhood Watch Schemes are very effective, one of our neighbours witnessed a teenager (who he recognised) throwing a brick at one of our windows, but refuses to identify him to the police.
 419. Neighbourhood watch schemes seriously need resurrecting, there are not enough meetings. Local beat officer and PCSO must get more involved in Neighbourhood Watch Schemes and continue to emphasize awareness, security of homes etc. other than just via Keyworth News or Keyworth Diary.
 420. PCSOs that KNOW LOCALS and can interact and encourage good behaviour/ look out for bad, are a good idea, the more the better. Litter bins and dog waste bin in trees area at end of footpath to Bunny (between Roseland Close and Brookview Dr) good idea.
 421. We all have to take responsibility for litter in our community, not only shop keepers. Equally we should all refuse a plastic bag when making a purchase wherever possible.
 422. Already have Neighbourhood Watch Scheme.
 423. Dog fouling is still a problem in some areas, field at end of Debdale lane and parallel to South Wolds field.
 424. Litter- is problematic at school around Wolds Dr/Church Dr and recreational park in the summer. It is an eyesore. Fly tipping is problematic on outskirts i.e. Bunny Lane/Pendock/Wysall lanes. On public footpath Roseland Close/Brookview Close. Dog fouling problem where public footpaths meet country paths.
 425. Already have Neighbourhood Watch Scheme.
 426. I do not like idea of large wind turbine. Littering is problem in particular areas, particularly around South Wolds, only way to stop is, to educate, make accountable and punish those responsible.
 427. Already in Neighbourhood Watch Scheme.
 428. It's always untidy on the footpath from the Square to Hawthorn Close/Wrights Orchard. Only gets cleaned if several complaints are made to Rushcliffe Borough Council directly. Dog fouling in this area is becoming a problem.
 429. Renewable power scheme- we need to know more before passing an opinion. Q 17- The inclusion of "big" in all these questions makes the answers more difficult to give.
 430. We already have a Neighbourhood Watch Scheme.
 431. Already have Neighbourhood Watch Scheme
 432. Bring back the windmill as a local power generator. Network of countryside paths encircling village and making more walks of 2-6 miles would be nice.
 433. We don't need a formal Neighbourhood Watch Scheme, we work with our neighbours and look after each other.
 434. Composting schemes are very smelly - it would reach Tollerton! Wind farms are very noisy, can be heard miles away!
 435. Community power scheme sounds good idea in theory but would depend what it was, for example. Wind power site would have to be chosen very carefully. Not sure of purpose of community compost scheme, people can make their own. If it means fewer chemicals on fields I would support it.
 436. Cycle paths would improve safety and help environment.
 437. School playing field is often a disgrace with litter. Statement that children should not pick up their own litter because of Health and Safety, the worlds gone mad!
 438. Already in Neighbourhood watch. Our road sweeper is one of Keyworth’s greatest assets. Perhaps the take-aways should contribute to his wages?
 439. What Nature Reserve?
 440. Already belong to Neighbourhood watch. Litter seems to be reasonably under control thanks to litter collectors.
 441. Improved footpath system would be welcome.
 442. Litter problems are caused by the school children. After lunchtime South Wolds children have caused a terrible mess with rubbish around the shops on the Parade - make them come out of school every day and clear it up! \No wonder there are rats in the area.
 443. Thurlby Lane Meadow Drive and Nicker Hill, dog bins/bus stop Mount Pleasant/Fairway Alley ways off Beech Avenue major problem areas. Daily occurrence well trampled school route.
 444. Youths hanging around in the evenings and young people on bikes and in cars are menacing. Measures should be put in place to stop noisy rude unruly congregating in Keyworth
 445. I have not answered the 3rd question of 18 because I am the assistant co-ordinator of my Neighbourhood Watch Scheme! Rushcliffe BC has asked us to put non-recyclable waste in plastic bags.
Q16 and 17 has the stench of politics and bureaucracy.
 446. There is a small problem with litter, dog fouling and graffiti in Keyworth. Every resident should be responsible and take a pride in where they live, making it a pleasant place to live.
 447. Would need more information on renewable power before able to comment.
 448. Fly tipping is a problem in the lanes around Keyworth. Chewing gum around Budgens and litter around the Parade, especially food from South Wolds pupils (no problems in school holidays)
 449. Since the night bus has been running there has been more trouble with vandalism and noise every Friday and Saturday night. Dog fouling is a dreadful problem, far too many choose not to pick up their dog mess. Parking on pavements is a problem that the police choose not to take action.
 450. If customers want bags they bring their own or pay for whatever they use. Just because they're degradable doesn't mean they should be issued free. Local footpaths are a disgrace, overgrown, difficult to negotiate, broken stiles, impassable due to year round mud.
 451. Being a senior citizen I do not feel safe going out in evening during dark nights.
 452. Green areas should be developed throughout Keyworth, provision of community gardens will add character to Keyworth and a contrasting feature to the many sports/leisure facilities now available. Alleyways need to be cleared and cleaned more frequently. Countryside public footpaths should be better maintained (for example. Brookview Dr to sewage works path) Re-open historic path from Debdale lane to Flawforth. Develop countryside public path to west of Keyworth to join existing paths and form a circular network of footpaths. Noise from audio, etc equipment in householders gardens pollutes immediate and distant locality of those wishing to enjoy peace and quiet of their own garden. Use Keyworth News etc to encourage residents to be mindful and considerate of neighbours and turn the volume down low.
 453. I do feel cautious when walking after hours in poorly lit areas like the playing field.
 454. I only feel safe in evenings in certain parts of Keyworth
 455. More dog fouling bins, i.e. Selby Lane/Wolds Dr, Fairway to Willowbrook. Litter on South Wolds playing field unsightly
 456. Litter- during term time at South Wolds, the area of the Parade, Wolds Driveis very badly littered despite provision of bins
 457. Dog fouling is a major problem, we should be clamping down on offenders who show little remorse at leaving their mess behind for others to tread in.
 458. Dog Fouling VERY BIG PROBLEM (Fairway location and surrounds)
 459. Dog fouling- I think somebody should walk round Keyworth from early morning and ask dog owners if they have means of picking up dog mess. It is getting worse again. 1 spot is alleyway between Fairway and Mount Pleasant. I confronted a man (old) the other day who was walking 2 old King Charles spaniels and he let them mess on Church Dr, when I asked him if he was picking it up he said no and told me to mind my own business!
 460. Didn't know there was a Nature Reserve
 461. Renewable power and community composting are a good idea, but it would depend on how the scheme worked and location for me to use them.
 462. Where is the Nature Reserve? There are not enough dog poo bins around Keyworth.
 463. Don't know where the Nature Reserve is. Litter around the Parade area during and after school times is very noticeable.
 464. Some of the roads need attention - they are very uneven
 465. I do not agree with youngsters being allowed out of school at lunch times. They invariably 'hang out' outside shops in large numbers and can be quite noisy at times with little or no consideration for other shoppers. This is very intimidating - particularly for the elderly.
 466. Composting should be individual based in gardens Local renewable energy is unlikely to be cost effective or make a significant difference to the environment
 467. We don't take the children many places because of the dog poo - especially down the fields near Budgens - stinks, great loss to village being able to do a scenic walk without the constant nagging to the kids to stay away and the smell into the bargain.
 468. I think Keyworth is a very pleasant village to live in. It has kept its character even though it is quite big. It has also got quite a few services and most people look after the village well. It has a good community spirit which can be further built on.
 469. Litter is a huge problem around the football ground down Platt Lane, something should be done about this. I would like farmers to use traditional methods for maintaining their hedges to encourage more wildlife. More allotment space somewhere in the village as I understand there is a waiting list for the allotments available.
 470. There are plenty of footpaths, I regularly use footpaths around and from and to the village. Most footpaths are clearly marked out, Footpaths tend to stay walkable if people continue to use them. How do you implement and locate a community reusable power scheme and composting facilities without adversely affecting the scale of Keyworth - Don't understand the full intentions of the questions to answer honestly
 471. Local business people should not have to clear up after litter louts. Parents should bring their children up to respect other people's property unless of course they do not respect their own. Also maybe a few more litter bins would help
 472. I have been fortunate to have an excellent councillor in Sam Boote for help with matters re dog fouling. He has helped in achieving further dog bins enabling dog owners to perhaps think twice about 'dog fouling'. Public seating around Keyworth would help us and other disabled/elderly families 'take a rest' before journeying on. Giving us an incentive to get out more! Don't think there is anywhere in Nottingham that you would feel safe in the evening so that goes for Keyworth too. It’s concerning about break ins reported in Keyworth News.
 473. Cycle track as well as footpaths would be useful
 474. The amount of litter the children leave outside Budgens and the Parade is terrible
 475. I would be interested in buying direct from local farmers, Vegetable co-op style.
 476. Already in neighbourhood watch scheme
 477. Cleaning near shops / in New York all the local businesses keep 'their' areas clean and free from litter. Enforcement of litter laws would also be beneficial.
 478. I have supported neighbourhood watch in the past but there was insufficient support in my immediate locale
 479. As already stated I am not happy about gangs of kids around the village
 480. The main street is at times very dirty although a man does his best to keep part of the main street and the square tidy. We do need Rushcliffe to send street cleaning vehicles more often.
 481. Can someone collect litter from the play park on |Nottingham Road (Sometimes there are even condom wrappers which are hard to explain to young children!)
 482. I think that shop owners should clear up their own litter outside their shops. Perhaps more litter bins would improve the situation.
 483. We often walk down Ling's Lane and across the fields to Wysall. It is one of the great attractions of living in Keyworth. Streetwise seem to do a good job collecting litter
 484. Evening time - feel threatened by youths hanging around playing fields, drinking (underage) etc. CCTV would be good as would be policing!
 485. Re. 17 - Don't think that there is a big problem re any items but there is always room for improvement
 486. Ensure that there is adequate lighting and that it is in a good state of repair to safeguard pedestrians
 487. I think dog mess in Keyworth is a particular problem, especially outside Willowbrook school where my daughter attends. This is ridiculous as a dog waste bin is provided in that area, not everyone is using it. We always have to watch where we are stepping along there due to people not clearing up after their dogs.
 488. Neighbourhood watch scheme in existence or it used to be.
 489. Environmental issues are very important to me. However I do feel that lots of good things could be achieved with little use of funds, like community clean ups, better use of local groups like South Wolds school, scout groups etc. Could all be utilised to improve green issues within Village.
 490. Illegible
 491. Pavement maintenance should be a priority in all areas.
 492. Only area I would feel apprehensive about walking at night is by the Centenary Lounge as groups of youths have in the past tried to intimidate me.
 493. Rushcliffe BC are the responsible authority for litter cleansing, there shouldn't be any in the 1st place
 494. Re public footpaths, there is a well run/ well used footpaths association!
 495. Dog fouling around Willowbrook school is a big problem. Owners should be fined if caught on camera or by residents/ school governors
 496. I feel Keyworth is safe place to live
 497. Don't believe Keyworth is any worse than most places with regard to the environment. Litter is a problem and it would take a complete change of attitude to improve it. No easy answer to this. I have never felt threatened in Keyworth either day or night
 498. We have Neighbourhood watch here Graffiti - parents of such young people who cause damage to bus shelters, scratch glass, spray paint etc should be made to pay for it. More police presence in streets required to catch offenders. Noise pollution ( radios etc) in gardens etc, is a problem as many people are very selfish
 499. State of roads and pavements is poor, in particular weeds on pavements and in gutters should be cleared more effectively
 500. To introduce some method of controlling the parking of large caravans for long periods of time, presenting an eyesore for neighbours
 501. Would not like to see a wind farm. We do our own composting, people should be encouraged to do the same. Better notice board information
 502. I don't think you are safe anywhere day or evening these days
 503. State of bus shelter in Square is disgusting. We have complained to R.B.C. to do something about this without success. I really feel that if the council lack any commitment to solve this problem, over the years this survey is likely to have little or no effect! We also need a visible policing presence in Village
 504. I am a dog owner so use “off-road" footpaths a lot. It seems that certain dog owners do not think they should pick up after their dog when they foul " not in public view", i.e. behind Crossdale school, end of Debdale Lane, perhaps some thought provoking signs would jar these people into picking up poo. Graffiti, I didn't think it would be long before the new fence up the alley by Fairway Pub got scrawled on, or the lovely bench outside the Co-op, it is inevitable. The video shop on Debdale lane has been broken into again, he will close I suppose, more support for him please.
 505. More police presence. When burgled no one wanted to know I only got a crime number from police. We are charged council tax for police but hardly see any
 506. We had a village policeman here before the war. Now we do not have our own policeman, is this progress?
 507. Power scheme seems attractive but the real need is for society to reduce wasteful power consumption
 508. Resident policeman
 509. Certain areas, notably Wolds DriveParade and The Square where I am not comfortable after dark when alone
 510. Unsure of what renewable scheme would involve. Selby Lane has neighbourhood watch
 511. Renewable power is a mixed blessing Borough already has compost scheme, does it make a profit? Responsible for litter clearing Yes, but having to do it No it is the Boroughs Streetwise scheme works. Plastic bags, provide a choice not a ban. None of Problems are "big" but they are problems which need to be controlled
 512. Suggest an area of playing field adjacent to village hall should be sectioned off for dog exercising and dogs prohibited from the playing pitches
 513. I did not find out about the Nature Reserve until this year when I walked our dog along Lings Lane and happened upon it by chance! Now I am keen to visit the area. The information provided by the sign on Lings Lane should be posted in 'The Square' in Keyworth!
 514. Parking laws are not enforced, far too many cars are parked on footpaths making pedestrians (particularly people with children and pushchairs) forced on to roads
 515. What is a renewable power scheme
 516. Local shop owners should be responsible for providing a waste receptacle outside their premises if applicable, for example fast food outlets, supermarkets
 517. Development of cycle route ways between Debdale Lane and Ruddington would encourage more com muting by bicycle, Development of cycle tracks on flatter ground for younger children would also be welcome
 518. Would like to see bottles collected from kerbside
 519. Dog fouling is still a big problem, i.e. Selby Lane, Nicker Hill, The Fairway, Willow brook.
 520. Shop owners to clear their own frontage- very good idea extend the scheme for every householder too- the worst litter areas are outside the schools- make schools responsible for their own boundaries
 521. It would be very useful to have a public park properly maintained with adequate seating. It would be used by mothers and children and the elderly
 522. I already belong to a good Neighbourhood Watch scheme.
 523. As a responsible dog owner I note an excess of dog fouling within the village, which is a pity as the minority give the majority a bad name. Litter is a massive problem as a walk along Platt Lane or the main road to Plumtree clearly shows. Regular litter collecting should be undertaken. A pride in the village needs to be instilled into residents and this can only come from Parish Council initiatives. The Parish Council does not promote itself or have a high enough profile in the village and could lead in environment issues if effort was put into it. Better communication by the PC is required - people are hardly aware of its existence and certainly not aware of its responsibilities.
 524. The plastic bag issue is a delicate matter - if there are not CHEAP kitchen bin-bags (hopefully bio-degradable), we have to use ordinary supermarket bags, to make sure that stuff left out in our grey bins doesn't become offensive or unhealthy. Maybe I feel safe in Keyworth because I rarely go out on foot after dark - I do hear of some problems of confrontation, no doubt related to the ease with which alcohol is obtained by minors, and by years of neglect by their parents?
 525. Horse droppings are sometimes a problem and the riders/owners should clear up the mess. There must be a need for more horse riding paths in the countryside, rather than using residential streets. Damage to the environment is often caused by using front gardens as car parks: while there is a need to have cars off the road, permission should only be given for schemes that also include soft areas to prevent rapid run off of surface water.
 526. As well as footpaths, don't forget bridal ways and cycle paths.
 527. People with dogs always assume that everyone likes dogs and therefore it is ok to foul public areas, which it is not.
 528. Whilst graffiti as such is not widespread, there is definite problem in the bus shelter in The Square. The bus timetable notices are vandalised, as are the windows. Probably the same occurs in other shelters in the village.
 529. I visit the Nature Reserve about 4 times a year, which wasn't one of the options. I often walk the footpaths leading out of the village, particularly the ones towards Widmerpool and Wysall. I am amazed so few people seem to use them. It would be nice to have a footpath around the west of the village, linking Bunny Lane to the footpath to Plumtree, and also one linking Plumtree to Plumtree Park, as it can be unpleasantly busy along Station Road. Most people in the village appear to respect the environment.
 530. I actually visit the Nature Reserve about 4 times a year, which doesn't fit the options. I often walk the footpaths leading out of the village - particularly from the south, and am amazed how few people take advantage of these very pleasant walks. I often walk alone and feel perfectly safe. It would be nice if there were footpaths across fields around the east of the village to link Bunny Lane with the footpath to Plumtree, and one linking Plumtree and Plumtree Park without having to walk along Station Road, which can be very busy.
 531. Question 17 is very poorly phrased and biased to get subjective response; the results should take this into account. I consider that the 5 issues listed in this question are problems but not BIG problems and therefore I have to disagree with the question but still consider there is an issue to be looked at.
 532. The community renewable power issue interests me- what about exploiting some of the school grounds for solar panels or windmills?
 533. Neighbourhood Watch schemes are very good, but where we live (in a cul-de-sac) we look after each other's property and welfare.
 534. Problems with litter are caused around the Senior school as the pupils discard chips, papers and there is no one to clear up.
 535. The people who drop the litter are responsible for clearing it up, we need a policeman/woman.
 536. On the whole Keyworth is as far as I am concerned fairly clean and I am not aware of graffiti. I am quite happy to be out and about in Keyworth during the day, and also at night - although I usually go out in the car if going any distance
 537. On the whole, Keyworth is a nice place to live. There are some areas where more care needs to be taken, the Square and the Parade being the worst areas. Until this survey, I had no idea there was a Nature Reserve.
 538. I normally feel quite safe, but there has been an increase in the number of break-ins lately. The video shop, Buzz fitness, and that doesn't make me feel safe. Keyworth could make more of the Nature Reserve: more explanation of what is it, a good map so you can follow walks, parking and even a coffee shop.
 539. At night there are a lot of people hanging around and local business are targeted for robberies it makes me feel unsafe in my own home
 540. Re having a local compost system - I have said "agree" but surely we have this by way of the Green Bins, I can't really see we need anything more. Re Dog fouling, yes there are one or two people who do not clear up after their dogs. But I would hesitate to say it was a MAJOR problem. Let’s have a few more people given hefty fines for non-compliance. Both fly posting and graffiti are problems but again I would not rate the as major problems.
 541. Keyworth is pretty clean but where there is litter it makes sense because there are no bins around.
 542. I don’t think the shop owners should clear up the mess because he/she did not put it there. I think the people who put it there should pick it up for a week, say they put 3 pieces of litter down they would have to pick it up for 3 weeks
