General Comments on Keyworth

All additional comments made by Keyworth residents on the village in general are listed below.

Below are all responses to question number 39, which asked residents to: "Please use this space to express any opinion about Keyworth and its future."

   Comment Text
 1. Keyworth is a great place to live - let's keep it that way.
 2. I wouldn't like Keyworth to become urbanised or to lose its sense of community. The lack of Police has had a detrimental effect leading to increased crime, including shop robberies, house break-ins, and troublesome youth. Speeding cars/careless driving becoming an ever increasing danger. Would like to see more village events to encourage the sense of community, for example farmers market, fetes, anything where people could meet up, I feel this would create a safer neighbourhood.
 3. Although Keyworth is bound to grow over the years, I do hope that its character will remain the same. I have lived here since I was 13years of age, it's a nice comfortable place to live in, and I hope it will stay that way. It is perfect as it is, I really love Keyworth and will never live elsewhere.
 4. A great place to live but could do with a little more money to play with, like West Bridgford and Cotgrave have. We have less amenities and it feels very unfair.
 5. Steps need to be taken to keep the village economy healthy for industry and retailers.
 6. Would it be possible to have a traffic mirror fitted to enable the residents of Poplars Close and Parkside to see around the corner, as traffic coming from Normanton Lane are on the blind side to them. It is a very dodgy exit from there, (by the way this does not affect me I'm just concerned). Could the road from Plumtree /Tollerton A606 Main Road have the corner cut off. As buses have to wait until the oncoming traffic gives them usually 2 car lengths of a gap to pull out in a safe manner. I feel for the bus drivers and the oncoming car drivers!
 7. A pleasant area in which to live, it has the advantages of a village situation, pleasant countryside nearby, and the convenient and frequent bus services to Nottingham, The accessibility of major hospitals, Theatres, cinemas and large shopping areas. Keyworth News is excellent source of information for events and local services.
 8. I really like living here and would not like it to grow too large. Would like any new development to be sympathetic to the look of the village now, be as eco friendly as latest technology allows and take into account the local infrastructure. I would like the Village Plan to be forward thinking and setting its sights on making the centre of the village car free. Would love a Farmers Market and to have plastic bags banned.
 9. We have been Keyworth residents for over 30years and greatly value village life and all that it provides. We moved here from" the south" where the environment was destroyed by inappropriate planning. Whilst affordable housing for young people remains a problem, the green belt must be protected at all costs. The size and location of Health centre coupled with the proposed development on Selby Lane gives great cause for concern.
 10. A welcoming and lively place. Needs to be a concerted effort to consider how we support families/children/youth better and debate on the economic future/potential needs to be held. I am heavily involved in Keyworth Show, if more organisations got involved this event could be extended and become a major visitor attraction. I sometimes feel that organised structures are quick to criticise the show's delivery but slow to offer constructive or practical support.
 11. Definitely require better and more efficient POLICING.
 12. Keyworth Show- Isn't it time to stop that awful fair, as it only brings crime, trouble, rubbish and noise, plus it also ruins the grass and village. The show needs new blood on the committee, instead of just the same dog show, they should do like they used to years ago, i.e. Clog dancers, Morris dancers, Gymkhana for all ages, Donkey Derby and donkey rides, Civil War re-enactment. A dance in the village hall on the night of the show for over 25yr olds, as we don't have any nowadays, the ticket price could go to the village use. Every year at the show people get sick of being asked for money as soon as they arrive and there's nothing to see anymore. Other village shows are fantastic, why isn't ours? A lot of the committee are not old village so they don't know how the show used to be..... We Do!
 13. A very nice and friendly village and should remain so. It should not be allowed to grow into a town. Major improvements are needed to cope with increasing elderly/disabled people who have to use mobility scooters or powered wheelchairs to get around. Particularly with regard to uneven and highly cambered surfaces, lack of passing places and crossing points.
 14. Would like Keyworth to stay much the same. There are adequate shops that I can get to with my scooter. I am frustrated though by inconsiderate people blocking the pavement or access points and would welcome better control of this. No passing places are available for about 200yds on Selby Lane near Methodist church, which is a big problem if two or more buggies/wheelchairs need to pass and the road, is too busy to use.
 15. I am a firm believer in using all the facilities and shops in Keyworth. Parking is an issue, mostly due to lazy and inconsiderate people. It would be nice if the bus did alternate trips past Asda like it used to. Very useful for South Notts College students.
 16. Policing is an important issue in Keyworth. It is very rare we see police patrolling in the village. Money spent on the Centenary Lounge and Village Hall should be spent on recreational projects for young people. When children need something they have to fund raise. The young children are the future of Keyworth lets make it an enjoyable place to live.
 17. Increasingly concerned about the closure of local shops in the centre. Are the rents too high? A centrally located coffee shop would encourage people to visit the village to meet friends and the local shops would benefit. Apart from Indian Nights there is nowhere else to go out for a meal (apart from the pubs), compare this with West Bridgford, which is buzzing with activity in the evenings!
 18. Every effort should be made to retain the pleasant balance of rural and urban like in Keyworth. All green spaces, playing fields, recreational areas, AND private gardens should not be built upon. A footpath and cycling track to Rushcliffe park is an excellent idea.
 19. The village is lovely but misses a central spot for people to mingle and socialise. I would like to see a coffee shop with tables outside near the church (in front of shops) and some supervised open facility for young people
 20. People are friendly and convey a warm sense of community spirit on the whole. Would hate to see Keyworth expand to such an extent that this feeling dissipates.
 21. Make Keyworth Show DAY a WEEK of community events. The fair could be 1 weekend and the show the other. Reduce the cost of stalls and open it up more to a variety rather like a country fair on the non-fairground weekend. Involve the schools and local organisations, mini plays, music, dance etc. We need to encourage all generations to take a pride and interest in the village as a whole. A park area would be a good idea; if the schools were involved then vandalism would be frowned upon by the younger generation who had worked hard. only by taking pride can we encourage good behaviour. Drink is a problem with some teenagers, can we use byelaws to prevent drinking in the streets etc?
 22. Need more housing, shops and good public houses. Ban parking outside Budgens. Don't close Leisure Centre.
 23. Crime within Keyworth is NOT reducing. Policing is ineffective and residents do not bother to report many problems because there is no easy, local facility to report such problem, particularly in the evening.
 24. The number of cars parked at South Wolds school has increased. Perhaps the school could make an area of its grounds available for its own staff/pupil parking. The area behind the bus bay on Wolds Drivecould be used and could be locked in the evenings if they wanted secure premises.
 25. By and large Keyworth is a good place to live with generally good services and facilities. Parking in Main Street is beginning to cause problems during business hrs and parking on double yellow lines should be discouraged by the use of heavy fines. Any major increase in the population would have an adverse effect on the village character with a detrimental effect on the present benefits enjoyed by the majority of residents.
 26. Keyworth has reached its optimum size, if there is a requirement for it to expand, this should be aimed towards families with young children, our primary schools are not full at the moment. If we don't address this problem we will become a village with an ageing population and the nature of the village will change.
 27. A fairly cheap and simple change to road junctions at the Square, Debdale Lane/Nottingham Road and the bottom of Nicker Hill by installing mini roundabouts would, achieve traffic calming, improve traffic flow, decrease accidents, ease pedestrians crossing (esp. if refuges are included), and improve conditions for cyclists. Other junctions might also benefit, at Church Dr/Wolds Dr, Wolds Dr/ Selby Lane etc.
 28. Keyworth cannot expand without building more schools and other services into the green belt, which I do not support in general. I would, however, support the building of a new campus for South Wolds school in the green belt near Platt Lane. The present buildings are an eyesore and could be demolished and the site sold for housing. I would hope that some green field could be retained as a much-needed public park in central Keyworth. I realise that this idea is somewhat unrealistic as funding would be difficult, but as an ideal to aim for in the future I think it has some merit. Incidentally this idea would also solve the Church Dr parking problems.
 29. We moved to Keyworth 6years ago and love living here. Funny isn't it? The Parish Council objected to us building our home!
 30. I love Keyworth, lots of long term residents but we could CARE more for how Keyworth looks with natural sensitive planting schemes, hedging, trees etc.
 31. I should like to see the demographic trends but anecdotal evidence suggests that a lot of young people came to Keyworth in the 60's and 70's and had children. Many of those children have left and the young people, like me, have grown old here and will probably live out our lives here and we are living longer. All the research evidence shows there are enormous benefits for both the individuals and the community if older people continue to learn and socialise. The community can provide structures and mechanisms and resources to facilitate the learning and socialising. The U3A has achieved so much in this field. Government at all levels is very concerned about the increase in the proportion of older people. Education and learning are essential for personal human growth in its broadest sense. Keyworth should become a learning community. Without fully addressing these two connected matters, the village plan will miss a vital component of how Keyworth can develop qualitively.
 32. Consideration needs to be given to vehicles exiting Keyworth onto major roads in rush hour, i.e. onto A60 at Bradmore and A606 at Tollerton, Traffic lights? Need to maintain "large village" atmosphere, if much larger than currently could adversely affect the community.
 33. I think Keyworth caters very well for the 60+. I would like to see more for young families and pre school children. There are not many family pubs or coffee shops or play areas.
 34. Good place to live in retirement (and before) as everything available as necessary for needs.
 35. The future of Keyworth. A village cannot stand still, it must either develop or fade away. It must not be allowed to stagnate because of the green belt. Provided its development is carefully monitored it will always have a green belt. In-filling should be discouraged, half of the charm of Keyworth is the greenery of its gardens. A figure should be set up for the increase in size of Keyworth, say 50 houses a year or 1000 over 20years, say 10 to an acre including roads. Light industry, office development. Public buildings might occupy another 50 acres with ideally another 50 acres of playing fields, parks etc. Thus one is looking at a planned development of 200 acres. Where is it to be? There are 2 factors to be born in mind. 1) The road system, the roads are not really wide enough for buses travelling in both directions, there is hardly an address from which it is possible to travel to and from the shops by bus. 2) The old village is right on the outskirts of modern Keyworth. Any development to be beyond the end of Main Street towards Wysall. This would probably raise objections from the "green belt lobby" but it would make the open countryside more accessible to most of Keyworth's inhabitants. Probably 50% of the present inhabitants have lived here for the best part of 40years. With careful planning, 50% of the newer residents of Keyworth will be here in 40years time.
 36. The Square and Parade need re-vamping to make them more attractive and inviting to encourage people to shop and interact locally. The Square needs to be given a more traditional feel and the Parade a contemporary one. Every effort should be made to make the village feel like a "centre" in its own right. This means more street life, pavement café, steps to sit on (the Square does have different levels), more trees and flowers, perhaps a water feature where the old well used to be, kiosk selling snacks and drinks, interesting shops etc. The area of the Parade is busy but needs unifying, Budgens, the Parade, the Leisure centre and the pub could be made into more of a "centre" by better landscaping, seats, café etc. There is a plot of derelict land behind the Parade and pub (owned by the pub), could this be put to better use? How about a properly run centre for the teenagers offering various activities for them. This could be built to a high "eco" standard. The area behind the Parade needs sorting out, rubbish and dilapidated garages make it an eyesore. The car park of the pub is under used and is a large empty bleak area. Resurrect that iconic symbol of Keyworth, the windmill somewhere. It could be surrounded by offices/workshops and if it could generate its own electricity that would be great. Keyworth could become a model for an "eco village" in the future, we have to have a head start by virtue of our hilltop location and surrounding countryside (think wind turbines, reed beds, ground loop heating systems, south facing "earth sheltered" buildings, a good enough infrastructure to be self sufficient for many things etc) We also have BGS. How about some eco holiday cottages? Hockerton housing project could be a useful resource.
 37. I moved to Keyworth 5years ago after living in the US for 50years. I'm very happy here, people have helped me settle in and feel comfortable in a culture I'm not used to. Would like to have some sort of traffic control on Bunny Lane, I've had some close calls trying to cross the road. Some of the residents of Woodleigh no longer go into the village to shop as often as they would if the road was safer. Some of the much older people have to have a relative come to take them across to the clinic.
 38. On the whole Keyworth is a nice place to live in. A lot could be done to improve the facilities already in place and its rural appearance.
 39. Keyworth is OK at the moment. Problems are speeding traffic and large lorries. Not enough facilities for children. Need to make more use of the youth centre.
 40. I think it is inevitable that Keyworth will grow over the next few years, which is fine as long as we keep our village atmosphere still. We still have some very good shops which I hope are able to keep open, it worries me to have empty buildings not being used. Facilities for leisure are very important also to keep the centre as it helps to keep a community together. Much more is needed for older (11-18years) children, to prevent them from hanging around the streets. The other big issues for me and my children in our day-to-day life is the vast amount of dog mess and speeding traffic on Bunny Lane. Otherwise I enjoy living in and being part of Keyworth.
 41. Would really like to see speed traps on Bunny Lane and permanent speed restrictions. 9 out of every 10 drivers goes faster than 40mph, it is not only dangerous but increases noise. people seem to think it is a long Brands Hatch.
 42. We love Keyworth News, it really adds to the feeling that you are part of a community (esp. if you have moved here from outside the area) We try to use local shops when possible and are concerned about the increasing number of empty shops around the Square. More Christmas light would be good, we liked them last year. The Keyworth Show is great and adds to the sense of community. We use the footpaths a lot but they are often overgrown and badly marked. Existing signposts need to be repainted. A leaflet on circular walks around Keyworth would be a good idea to get residents to use the footpaths more and get fit! Recycling bin collections are very impressive indeed. Good to have glass at Health Centre. A clothes-recycling point would be useful, we can't find one in the area.
 43. Any village plan must address the problem of Police presence in Keyworth. The current situation of part-time cover with the occasional PCSO checking tax discs is inadequate and a fraud on local taxpayers. It is ridiculous that for much of the time when a problem/crime occurs we must rely on contact with Bingham. A town/village like Keyworth deserves and requires a Police station with 24/7 cover staffed by proper policemen, providing a visible presence at all times.
 44. As we are being encouraged to use public transport could this be increased not decreased? Also Melton/Oakham bus could perhaps be diverted from Melton Road through Plumtree and Keyworth and back to Melton Road. Also better service at night. Across Keyworth transport would make life easier for older residents, the Keyworth Connection could perhaps be alternated to run in opposite directions. It would be nice if we could have an Age Concern connection in Keyworth where elderly could meet for company and a chat and also kept informed of Age Concerns help and projects.
 45. A great place to live, further development and growth should be planned and designed to compliment and enhance the village. Additional housing development to address local housing needs and to support the local housing market should be planned over the next 10-20years, based on a sound understanding of the market and expected need. Major growth should go elsewhere, Brownfield sites as the priority, but Greenfield development in appropriate locations in Rushcliffe borough should be allowed. Any development in or around Keyworth should bring benefit to the existing residents (for example new play space, or improved leisure facilities) and be designed to a high standard. Drastically raising densities of any new development should be resisted to ensure new housing fits with the existing character (which is already fairly high in places overall).
 46. A nice place to live in. Facilities available for all residents are excellent and are easily accessed.
 47. If Keyworth were to grow, as in housing it would further dilute the local-ness of the village bringing its own problems with it. Improve what is already in the village and a repeat of this survey can only help.
 48. I have lived here since 1958 and would not like to live anywhere else. I would really appreciate a way of visiting Rushcliffe Country Park, my mobility scooter is unable to achieve the distance. I don't think there are enough open spaces to visit or public gardens to go and sit in.
 49. Some wrestling
 50. Need more of a pedestrianised "green" square to give Keyworth a real centre with benches, statues, sculptures and lots of trees and garden areas. Tighter control/checks on the pubs, behaviour outside in their grounds is often very noisy/offensive/threatening to passers-by and residents. The police should be able to do more to stop anti-social behaviour. More greenery on grey, drab featureless estates i.e. Fairway/Mt Pleasant and Brookview Dr areas. Need to upgrade road surfaces some are bordering 3rd world.
 51. I think Keyworth could improve its services by looking at our changing needs. More family orientated events, leisure especially. There are a lot of single parent families out there who need to be encouraged to come to these events to make them feel involved in their community. Teenagers should have more leisure facilities. A few clubs of their choice with the support from their peers. Also an outdoor club with activities other than sport, motorcycle scrambling etc, controlled it would be an asset to the wayward teenager. Dog fouling needs to be stepped upon (sic) MORE red bins please.
 52. Care for the younger generation to keep them and families in village.
 53. Recently moved here from Loughborough and really like living here, only thing it’s missing is more play areas for small children.
 54. We are fond of living in Keyworth, neither of us are as active as we used to be due to our ages and of course this has coloured the answers we have given in the various sections. I see Keyworth as a very pleasant and thriving town/village and hope it continues to be so, and I mean that most sincerely folks!
 55. We need to foster growth in some areas, for example small businesses to ensure that Keyworth remains vibrant and therefore our amenities and facilities (banks, supermarket, post office) are retained.
 56. We are fortunate to live in this village. The house price and limited amount of small family homes will discourage young families living here, then we will have an older population and the facilities will only cater their needs. We require place to meet without having to pay membership to a club. I would support a Youth Worker who came into schools and organised activities within the village. Also, young families, the disabled and lonely people need support from our community.
 57. Keyworth is a good place to live with lots of amenities. There could always be more and with the increasing costs of travel etc Keyworth obviously needs to what it can to encourage people to use local shops and offices and perhaps more workshops for local employment. The difficulty is the balance needed to keep the character and not spoil it with any changes proposed.
 58. Generally it has been a very happy place to live for 35years. Local shops and suppliers were outstanding. I fear for the loss of local shops due to extreme rents (allegedly) and to the over-supply of take-aways supplanting previous small shops. We have 2 fine butchers, a splendid ironmongers and a baker, but we have lost greengrocers, electrical etc. It is good news that we are to have a deli/café. This questionnaire is welcome and we hope it will be used by large numbers, your request to sound out local opinions is worthy of support. You have probably made a difference already, thank you!
 59. A nice place to live still and it has more facilities and better transport links than many neighbouring villages.
 60. Why have we got 2 chemists and a betting shop in the Square, it spoils the heart of Keyworth. A drop in coffee/tea shop would do very well.
 61. A charming small town with 2 shopping areas. We are blessed with lovely farmland around us. Groups of youths are generally not a problem despite occasional silliness by some. More, regular police (on foot and cars) can only be a good thing. Please do not follow Nottingham by placing late night dance/drinking clubbing establishments, which have ruined larger towns and are now dirty, ugly and violent places full of very drunk youngsters. Older adolescents have little to do, this is a small time-bomb for Keyworth.
 62. A great place to live, let's keep it that way. Affordable housing for young families is a must. Traffic speed is a must, NO HUMPS! I often get hooted for driving at 30mph in the village (motorbike or car) and the same between Keyworth and Tollerton at 40mph. More police action, cameras etc.
 63. Thanks for all the time and effort put into this plan - very much appreciated
 64. Keyworth should not have any further building, nor should parking schemes be introduced. Instead, ban parking for all but the elderly and disabled. Most people can walk and it would do them good to do so.
 65. If Keyworth gets too much bigger it will lose its community feel. Young people need more low cost activities to keep them occupied. We desperately need affordable housing for young 1st time buyers so that they can stay in the village if they so wish.
 66. A plan is an excellent idea. None the less Keyworth cannot live in isolation. There are national housing and land needs and all of us think that they should be met (if at all) on somebody else's doorstep!
 67. School car parking is a big issue in the whole of the village. If it is essential for parents to takes their children to school in cars then they should NOT be allowed to park on the roads leading to the school, offending local residents and making it difficult for them to access or leave their homes at these times. All the schools have room within their grounds for a car park and they should be made to provide this, why should the residents have to suffer.
 68. Sign posts for toilets. Clamp down on illegal parking. Double yellow lines Church Dr and Wolds Drivejunction. Sell half the Tavern car park to provide parking for the Parade and Budgens shop and make it look more attractive! Keyworth Diary is very informative but the display board should be used more. We love the Keyworth community feel and we like the way the shops are making more of an effort and participating with Christmas and floral displays. For a prosperous village the park and play facilities are completely inadequate and offers no challenge for the over 5's. We have to travel to smaller villages that have far better facilities (Tollerton and East Leake)
 69. Take-aways should be allowed to open till 12 or later if they so wish.
 70. PROPER ENFORCEMENT of the existing parking restrictions. for example The Square and Main Street especially outside the Co-op and the Bank/chemist. Also all schools at drop off/pick up times in contravention of the yellow zig-zag markings. An occasional impromptu police presence in these areas would go a long way to reducing the problem. The same people continue to disregard these restrictions because they know the chances of getting caught are extremely rare.
 71. Keyworth is essentially a village and a massive house building exercise plus the inevitable large hypermarket, no doubt would ruin its character. No doubt with demographic pressures it will grow but we should resist or at least control it if possible.
 72. New housing developments such as Sharp Hill pose a serious threat to the village. If this is allowed to go ahead then there has to be a serious risk of housing developments between Edwalton and Tollerton, Tollerton and Plumtree, and Plumtree and Keyworth. This would be totally unacceptable.
 73. Keyworth is currently a pleasant place to bring up young children or enjoy retirement, not so good for the 11-30 age group More sport and leisure activities for young people (including those with disabilities) would be welcome. Generally a population as large as Keyworth would benefit from more amenities in terms of range of shops, places to eat or leisure facilities. Thank you
 74. At present we have green land / farm land / space between the village and the nearest housing and main roads - N S E and W. We should aim to keep it that way, at all costs.
 75. The Square needs to be developed to attract new business, for example a weekly farmers market. The Health centre needs to offer far more services to warrant its size, minor operations for example, x-ray and minor A and E, not just a meeting place for the areas employees. The new car park is not sufficient as it is. A pay and display is needed to stop park and riders to Nottingham and Health workers using it. They should park in Village Hall Car Park.
 76. A very pleasant village to live in, and changing it with more building would spoil it. The bus service to Nottingham is very good but to get anywhere else its impossible, other than going into the city and coming back out again. It would be a good idea to get the road sweeper to sweep up the leaves in the car park as there are now weeds growing in the leaf litter in the gutters.
 77. No building/development on Green belt land.
 78. Not enough provision remains for accommodating the elderly who cannot afford to purchase property. Keyworth development has been disappointing over the last few years. Little notice has been taken of opinions of those who do not agree with current plans. Keyworth is on its way to being classified as a town, what a sorry day that will be.
 79. If there were more bus routes or cycle paths to nearby areas, this would reduce people claiming the dole, more people going to work, and more people using the Rushcliffe facilities.
 80. Keyworth remains an excellent place to bring up young children. I have been a part time youth leader, school governor and have run youth football teams. There is an under current of social problems which are evident with some families on the old council estate (my mother still lives there). There is a drug issue in Keyworth, bigger than may be appreciated, the public houses have a lot to answer for. The ex British legion building requires sorting ASAP. Keep Leisure centre open!
 81. I am glad to live in Keyworth which is a friendly village.
 82. I find living in Keyworth very pleasant .I am forever grateful to Bartons buses which I make full use of, however I have one reservation, there is no public transport up Nottingham Road, at the moment I am fortunate in being able to walk to Health Centre and chemist ,(with a struggle at times).
 83. I believe Keyworth is a very traditional village that suits elderly people only. It needs more life, something for youngsters to do. It needs to work with time and change its old laws and restrictions.
 84. Keyworth needs a revamp similar to Gordon Square at West Bridgford. Our square is shabby and the Parade is a disgrace. The Tavern, shops and garages are an eyesore, knock them all down and redevelop starter homes, shops and new smarter pub. We need speed humps at ALL schools and speed lights too. Bigger Police presence at night in the Square area. Parking must be sorted out, more double yellow lines and enforced. Parking outside the Co-op and Village Hair on the pavement MUST be stopped, some days the pavement is used as a car park. The bench at the end of Selby Lane is vandalised. More litter bins and CCTV at trouble spots. Drug dealers stamped out.
 85. Would hate to see Keyworth develop to the size of Bingham, it would lose its village status
 86. Should be sheltered housing for elderly (inc couples) this would help to keep people in the village who don't want to move out.
 87. Population is ageing in Keyworth and it would be good to see more residential accommodation for single person households, There's plenty of family accommodation already. Younger generation are moving away. I feel there are good facilities and amenities generally but some of the village organisations appear to be in a time warp. What about a music society? Would like to see NHS dentists in Health Centre. This building is underused, could organisations rent out a room for evening events?
 88. Condition of pavements, especially Ashley Road is a disgrace and complete resurfacing should be carried out ASAP, NOT PATCHING!
 89. A fantastic village with lots of facilities and activities within the village. With more outdoor provision for under 11's play, traffic slowing (especially down Bunny Lane) so elderly can get across safely and attention to pavements and road conditions there would be a great improvement to quality of life and stress levels.
 90. More concern for the non-motorist. More emphasis re car sharing etc. More could be done to reduce cars in the village and encourage walking.
 91. A very nice village, this should remain so, however progress should be maintained otherwise stagnation will occur.
 92. Where no opinion or not applicable has been ticked, it is because we are not aware of the facts relating to these questions.
 93. We should try to provide some affordable housing for the younger generation without expanding the overall size of the village too much. Keyworth maintains its village appeal with good local services and convenient shopping.
 94. We both like Keyworth very much, having moved here 3 years ago and appreciate its rural character, although being large enough to support very good local shops and services. If any more building is required, hopefully it will be planned more in keeping with an English village and not a monstrosity like the Health centre and the "naff" shops on the Parade.
 95. A very nice village being surrounded by green fields whichever direction one travels and we hope it remains that way for many years to come.
 96. Keyworth property is becoming old now, with little development over many years. We need to find some land for more development for the young, affordable housing in particular. (Debdale is the 1st for many years). What about the allotments on Willowbrook, sorry for the holders, but housing is more important for the young, who must leave the village  and so the community becomes older. Get the council and school heads to encourage parents to go green by walking and stop taking children to school in cars. Do a survey and put emphasis on it to reduce the school run traffic where possible. Get more crime reduction posters and info out to householders, let criminals know we are being vigilant. Put more info in local magazines and papers that more is being done, it's vague currently.
 97. More policing otherwise crime will increase
 98. More policing around Keyworth. Looking at the cars parked on the pavements all day, most people have big drives but don't use them, i.e. Brockdale Gardens. Policing around schools to look at the parking.
 99. A lovely village and I feel it would be a grave mistake to allow it to grow much bigger. While the Nottingham bus comes down from the village to Nottingham Road there is no transport up the hill to the village centre, which makes it hard going for the elderly.
 100. To many townies coming in wanting to take over.
 101. Pavements on Crossdale and environs are an unsightly patchwork. They have not been resurfaced since the estate was built. Why do we have unsightly blue kerbstones on Adams Hill? The drains are so far below the road surface that a car rocks violently when driven over causing distress to anyone with back trouble.
 102. Should not expand beyond its current boundary at all.
 103. I shall probably stay here for the rest of my life, please look after the village.
 104. Cleanliness of the streets, people walking dogs and not cleaning up, and also children who just leave litter.
 105. Lack of facilities for young children is a problem. Rushcliffe park is great but what about in Keyworth itself? Better, bigger park, picnic areas, maybe even a pub with a soft play area? Gym clubs etc? The Pizza shop is dreadful!
 106. Village needs to keep green space around it to ensure it remains separate from West Bridgford / Tollerton and Ruddington / Clifton thereby retaining its village identity
 107. We should upgrade the children's play area so that it can be used in all weather by replacing the turf with rubber. We need another bank for 2/3 days per week.
 108. Keyworth is a fantastic place to live but its quality is being eroded by: 1. The inconsiderate motorist 2. Speeding vehicles 3. Inconsiderate workers and shoppers (car related) 4. Total lack of police presence and apathy show by Notts Police All of this can be addressed with some investment.
 109. Keyworth is a great place to live. Better policing would improve it more. I wouldn't like to see it grow much larger.
 110. I have lived in Keyworth since 1968 and have always found it a nice place to live. Generally speaking the crime appears to be well below average and we are well catered for with shops etc.
 111. We have lived in Keyworth for 4 years but have been familiar with it for a lot longer. We think that Keyworth is a large village with good facilities. We regard it as a good place to live. It still feels like a rural area. This is the way we would like it to stay. If Keyworth were to be developed further we would definitely leave. There is no reason to develop it further. Affordable houses should be built elsewhere. So-called affordable houses would not be affordable in Keyworth anyway. It is already a fairly expensive place to buy property. There are plenty of affordable houses for sale in other parts of Nottingham, why build more?
 112. Parking on Church Drive is no problem in the holidays when the school is closed. The school should build a car park in the grounds or have a word with the landlord of the Tavern to rent his car park
 113. No more fast food or takeaways. More choice of buses into Nottingham
 114. Remove wall outside Londis on Manor Road, it has been a nuisance since it was built and no one was asked their opinion before building it.
 115. Keyworth is quite a good village although more could be done for young teenagers to keep them out of trouble. Something should also be done about the drainage on Bunny Lane and outside the Webster Hall, as it smells esp. in this warm weather.
 116. The family feel of Keyworth is good, we like the village aspect and would not want it to get busier. The risk of injury to pedestrians and school children in Church Dr is real, something must be done to prevent accidents happening
 117. The good qualities of Keyworth village life should be much cherished. Rash or poor planning/restrictions are almost impossible to reverse.
 118. The last few buildings erected or about to be erected have completely ruined the centre of the village, for example Health Centre. The development at Wrights garage site will cause lots of problems as Selby Lane is not wide enough for all that residential development esp. as a percentage will be for the elderly, for example traffic negotiation, entering and leaving the development. The majority of residents objected to this development, as usual to no avail. Perhaps now you have done this survey any further development or proposed development, the opinions of the residents who live nearest the development will be listened too! My daughter drove through the village the other day and thought how drab and tatty the Square looked.
 119. Excellent place to live with the feel of a village yet the amenities and facilities of a town. It is perhaps important to put into context issues such as congestion and crime, which, compared to other areas of Nottingham are largely insignificant. We should not adopt a "NIMBY" approach and resist all development. Modest additional family housing would enable the local schools and shops to continue to thrive and create a more balanced population. There is a danger that Keyworth becomes purely a retirement village.
 120. Would not want to see Keyworth expand. Buses to QMC would be a great advantage to me.
 121. Keyworth has been a great place to bring up a family. Would hate to see it lose its village feel. A great strength is the fact it is separate and surrounded by green, it would be a shame if anything changed this.
 122. An improvement on bus routes would help, with a connection to Ruddington and buses going past South Notts college again. Tighten up on dog fouling. Keep size as it is.
 123. Would like Keyworth to retain its "village" identity, its a friendly place to live for all age groups. I hope it continues to have this "caring" feel in the future.
 124. No further development as this would lead to more traffic congestion and spoil the character of the area
 125. I am currently slightly disappointed that many of the shops (and banks!) are closing in the village at the moment. I'm not impressed that we seem to have a second pharmacy opening in the square at the moment. I also get really frustrated with the amount of parking on double yellow lines in Keyworth, especially outside Co-op and pharmacy I'm very impressed with the new health centre and feel very lucky to be in its catchment area. I wish HSBC would return
 126. Keyworth has been systematically ruined over the past 40years. Having many precious old buildings demolished and ugly housing and shop developments erected. Also infilling has led to a cramped congested look about the village, and must not be taken any further.
 127. Need more, better, smarter restaurant/café/coffee shops. Please smarten the Square up! Parochial Hall needs a major interior refurbishment.
 128. Generally, Keyworth is a lovely place to live with friendly, welcoming people and surrounded by delightful countryside. Just need better planning to maintain its character and to stop awful schemes such as monstrous health centre and the Wright garage development from happening .I do not object to the schemes themselves, just their scale and proximity to the road. Traffic laws, dog fouling regulations need to be enforced.
 129. Keyworth is a pleasant place to live and the people are friendly. I hope that it will remain so.
 130. I would like to see Keyworth retain an image of a large village. Unfortunately recent developments, such as the new health centre, distract from this due to its inappropriate size (particularly height) and extension style. It is adjacent to a conservation area! Future priorities should be to reduce the power of the car driver, provide more play areas for a wider age range of children within and on the edge of the village, provide better facilities and meeting places for teenagers within the village and improve the network of footpaths and cycle routes (off road) within and beyond the village.
 131. Apart from Villa Road and Meadow Dr all roads in Keyworth are an utter disgrace (presumably councillors live on the 2 afore mentioned roads) The pavements all over the village, which have been topped with “slurry”, are as smooth as a dogs hind leg and are now growing weeds profusely.
 132. Take a leaf out of Cotgrave's book concerning speed control. It makes a nice "gateway" into the village, a small speed hump to slow you down and a flashing sign to remind you of your speed. A nice display of flowers and you have a lovely welcome. I love West Bridgford café culture and would like to see some of that come to Keyworth. Somerfields, Bob Greens and the Chinese could all have seating outside and offer a variety of drinks and snacks. Cycle routes to Rushcliffe country park and the city would be amazing, my kids cycle all over the place in the summer but its very tricky to get to the country park from here, which is silly when there is already Debdale Lane stretching in the right direction.
 133. Fantastic place to live, I, my children and grandchildren seem to have most of their needs catered for.
 134. Lived here for 21years, its convenient, pleasant and a great place to bring up children. I would like to think that my children, now in their 20's could buy homes in Keyworth.
 135. Need policing at night to move on groups of teenagers. Cars with loud exhausts need monitoring, esp. in evenings. Keyworth is nice location and village and needs to remain so. Cheaper housing may be required but care taken not to bring in a certain element to the village. The council estate has enough issues without adding more. More for the youth to keep them off the streets
 136. Good village to live in and no need to build any large buildings. Towns often bring trouble. One problem is dog fouling, people should be warned or fined.
 137. I am on Keyworth Show committee and think we should have more help from other members of the village on Show Day.
 138. I have lived in Keyworth for 20 years and my wife was from here. We are committed residents of the village and value its character, charm and civility. We recognise the need to expand, to cater for the needs of future generations and to maintain a healthy commercial community to provide services, goods and employment opportunities. This must be done without compromising on the qualities mentioned above, we must show our determination in maintaining high standards of behaviour, cleanliness and public spirit.
 139. The biggest blight in Keyworth is the disgraceful state of the pavements! Will we ever get them resurfaced
 140. Better policing Better pavements Better roads Sensible parking on Main street. The Square should be one way only to avoid accidents. Double yellow lines mean no parking. Enforce it. The village is big enough. Leave well alone. We cannot justify any more homes or industry.
 141. The centre needs focus and help, planners need to ensure a variety of shops and businesses not more of the same. Car parking is a priority - if people used the current car parks there would not be a problem Community police are an ineffective service we can do without - maybe these costs could be used to ensure that the police force get onto the streets occasionally. The force may even improve through gaining knowledge of the area.
 142. Born in Keyworth, left and come back. Feel it is beginning to look shabby. Need to reassess and improve what is here. Invest in solar panels and improve winter street lighting. What is happening to the British Legion? Could a run be linked to the village show?
 143. Keyworth at present retains many of the advantages associated with a village such as good community spirit good amenities good transport facilities. If the village is to be expanded it will change the character of where we live. The quality of like within Keyworth could easily be lost with too much development as at present most able-bodied individuals can walk around the village. All in all fortunate to live and have friends in Keyworth
 144. Keyworth is a very attractive place to live with good transport to Nottingham. Hopefully this will continue
 145. Generally I think quite a number of people are quite satisfied with the facilities we have here - Keyworth to Nottingham buses - frequent shopping buses in the village - Hospital bus, would it perhaps be a good idea to display or mention it in the Keyworth magazines as many people are not aware of the QMC bus. It would save some quite a lot of money instead of taking a car - parking at the hospital is expensive and often there are waiting times to park causing great concern with attending clinics - I know because I work on the main entrance desk (as a volunteer) and very often I am asked to take people to clinics or wards whilst the driver awaits a parking space. It would also help to keep this bus running if people of Keyworth knew about it.
 146. Keep Keyworth small and lets have more conservation places
 147. Lack of affordable houses for first time buyers resulting in an ageing population. Could impact on existing facilities i.e. school with falling numbers, sports facilities etc. Greater stress on health facilities. (Instead of cycle tracks perhaps mobility tracks should be introduced!)
 148. Please don't destroy the village for profit
 149. It would be sad to lose the Leisure Centre. Lessons are well used. Local clubs rely heavily on volunteers-local people need to be aware that these are forced to close through lack of support from local people. Young people should get involved.
 150. I would not like to see any green belt used in housing
 151. Parking is a big problem. South Wolds need own car park. It is difficult to park in Bunny Lane car park as people park all day.
 152. Village has gone down hill in last few years. Policing is virtually nonexistent. Feral youths roaming with no checks. Very little crime solved. Pavement and road surfaces diabolical, our rates are wasted on pet projects. Overgrown hedge on corner of High View and Mount Pleasant, reported 3years ago, still not cut back to border
 153. I have lived in Keyworth for 50 years and we are extremely lucky to have such a nice village - keep it that way
 154. Parking problems will grow! The issues are: - 1 All day commuters to Nottingham using Keyworth as a 'Park and Ride' convenience. These parkers may bring some late trade to local shops and provide useful revenue to the local bus services. However these parkers are an overall nuisance to the local community and the pressure for this type of parking will increase if Nottingham City Council introduces a work place parking levy in the city. The 'park and riders' do produce a benefit by reducing traffic on the roads into Nottingham but this should be funded by the City and County Council by paying for a specific facility in Keyworth dedicated to all day parking to remove the conflict with local short-term parking. The demand for an all day facility could also be the use of the pub car parks on the bus route, with the City / County Council making some maintenance payment to the pubs. 2 All day parking (from local businesses on Main Street) at the eastern end of Brookview Drive is becoming intolerable - and will increase if the short term parking restrictions on main street are enforced. There should be daytime residents / visitors / trades people only parking restrictions on Brookview Drive and other such locations to exclude extraneous all day parkers. 3 There needs to be more / better signing to the existing car parks 4 The parking under the health centre should be limited to those at the centre with an operational need to use their cars as part of their work. The spaces should then be given over to disabled parking - so people can get in / out of cars under cover.
 155. We've lived in Keyworth for 1.5 years now and we are mostly quite happy and with our decision to raise our family here but I would love to commute into Nottingham by bike and the roads in/out of the village are simply not bike friendly. Too narrow and drivers driving much too quickly.
 156. The Square is in desperate need of a wider variety of shops etc if the existing ones are to survive. Without affordable housing we not be able to bring young families in to the village and the average age will continue to rise (we desperately need to have young families moving in to maintain a balance) We have a lot to be proud of - Keyworth is generally a great place to live but needs direction if it is to maintain its lovely 'village' feel.
 157. We have lost several shops and some premises are still empty so losing the character of the village and not encouraging local people to shop locally Once people shop elsewhere it will be difficult to get them back. Also need some more affordable housing for young people so they don't have to move out of the village when they want to move from living at home.
 158. Age comment - over 80
 159. Both and male and female boxes ticked. Too long getting appointments for a doctor
 160. Survey completed by husband and wife. We feel that Keyworth should remain in its present form i.e. village. More development (housing) will bring the population numbers to a greater level than the local facilities can cope with. Any larger development in this area will turn Keyworth into a town and the heart of Keyworth will be lost forever
 161. Most of it has already been said. However I would like to see younger people considered more. Encourage them to stay in the village instead of leaving at 18 and being unable to ever afford to return. Its becoming more and more a middle class / retired community - it needs an injection of life. Encourage people to open existing restaurants - make Keyworth a place people would like to visit on a Saturday. Parking in the village is a problem - but only because you allow people to park in illegal places. If you charge for parking even less people will visit and use the existing shops we have in Keyworth.
 162. I would like to see more done for 11-18 year olds and more street policing (on foot or bicycle!) More should be done to discourage parents using cars for the school run - Willowbrook, Crossdale drive and Nottingham road are virtual 'no go' areas from 0840 to 0915 and 3.15 to 3.45 pm this village is small enough to either walk or use Keyworth connection I feel there are too many takeaway food shops - the amount on the parade is ridiculous A farmers market would be a lovely way for locals to purchase locally produced food and craft items it would also bring back the 'rural' village feel that has been lost over recent years
 163. We brought up our 3 girls here and after university and a few years away - 2 of them are now living in Keyworth with their children. We like Keyworth and have no plans to move away. We like the idea of Keyworth being a large village with a village history and we like the green areas and countryside around the village. Keyworth has a lot going for it and Nottingham is easily accessible with regular buses if we want a city. I hope Keyworth doesn't get much bigger and can keep its character with just a few improvements to keep up with the times.
 164. Keyworth is a lovely place to live in and would not like to see it getting bigger
 165. How can you justify the cost of these surveys? They could have been produced far more cheaply - surely colour printing and top quality paper will only add to the cost and have little effect on the number of responses.
 166. To oppose all development in Keyworth is foolhardy. If we do not plan which type of development we want, others will inevitably impose another type outside of the village who have no attachment to the village.
 167. Both of us in the 80's and invalided
 168. Keyworth Square is an ideal environment in which to develop a pleasant café and small shop environment which would encourage more integration in the community. The establishment of a "pedestrian" area with access only to buses and disabled users would allow the development of pavement areas and encourage farmers markets etc and promote the use of the excellent parking facilities, people would start walking again. Some investment should be made ensuring that roads and pavements are regularly cleaned and encouraging planting esp. in the housing estate. More garages should be built to encourage car owners not to have to park on the street.
 169. Would like Keyworth to remain a village. I understand housing is a problem but should that mean we lose our countryside?
 170. Would not like to see village expand anymore
 171. It seems that every small plot of land is being built on and it should be stopped
 172. Keyworth should not grow any larger
 173. Preserve railway track for possible future transport use
 174. With imagination, determination and the cooperation of residents, Keyworth could soon be a safer place in which to live and a more attractive place to live and work for younger inhabitants ensuring that Keyworth maintains its village identity. It is up to each of us to do our bit to see that we all work together for the good of all.
 175. Playground provision for small children (under 8) is terrible when compared to other villages. There should be some public toilets open at the weekend not just when Dr's are open.
 176. A great place to live. Unfortunately there is apathy about most activities, prevalent in a large majority of the residents. I would love for this survey, if nothing else, to create some pride and interest in the community.
 177. Keyworth should be retained as a large village, with any developments being carried out in a sympathetic nature, the new health centre is too intrusive. More parking enforcement should be undertaken in the village esp. in the Square.
 178. Keyworth has developed piecemeal over the last 50years with no coherent plan. With no large employer and an ageing population its needs have changed from needing to provide for a young family based population to more of a maintaining the status quo situation with less young people as a percentage of the pop. There are plenty of facilities for the young and quite rightly so, but is there a need for more for the elderly? Perhaps an ornamental garden to relax in or a park like setting.
 179. We moved here in 2007 from Ladybay, West Bridgford. We find Keyworth so peaceful after West Bridgford. Concerned that so many businesses have closed down recently. Would like to see more small businesses, i.e. a proper pharmacy to match medical centre, fruit and vegetable and less small supermarkets.
 180. All pavements and roads are in a very poor condition in all areas of Keyworth.
 181. The absence of any visible presence of law officers around the village and the employment of PCSOs (total waste of money) encourages poor parking as well as illegal parking, speeding by drivers, (check Wolds Drive about 8-8.15am when the school is open) and also litter strewn areas. Loud music from cars is also becoming a frequent nuisance. It's important that the green belt around the village is maintained.
 182. Need to ensure that village has a cross section of quality shops and services, to attract people from outside as well as local people. If the solution to this were more light businesses/offices, then would prefer this to new housing. Would be good to have a centre which is welcoming at night, for example café, bar in Square. Better, improved play facilities for under 11's. Need to fill empty shop units otherwise the heart of village is lost and open to abuse.
 183. Keyworth is a fantastic place to live keep all the amenities we've got find ways to use the countryside on doorstep a fruit and vegetable shop would be great - possibly offering home delivery. Make Keyworth businesses a plastic bag free zone and provide composting facility. Suggest a magazine is published encouraging recycling toys/furniture or for sale. Make main village area pedestrianised
 184. Should remain large village and try to enhance not destroy it's community feel and spirit
 185. Decisions about development of the village must be made locally and not imposed by national or county politicians who have no interest in the consequences and only interested in fulfilling statistical requirements and national plans
 186. Important to have a variety of shops, so don't want more of the same. The village fair is very important especially the horticultural show as it brings the village together. The village needs to recognise and support the volunteers that keep the clubs and societies going
 187. Recycling point may be useful. A local council drop-in centre for services/information/coffee/community shop, perhaps a local charity could run this, with support (Salvation Army). Under 7's park needs upgrading, no soft landing areas.
 188. Been to functions at Radcliffe on Trent and surprised how much better funded their community facility (Grange Hall) was. It is far superior to our village hall with accessible parish council offices and services. Very disappointed at the decision of the planning inspector to override all local parish and district council decision to refuse such a high density and out of character development on former Wrights site. What is the point in having local councillors and democracy if this can be completely over-ruled? This does not encourage people to vote in local elections. Need a police presence in Keyworth, not just a flash police station that is never open. Roads and pavements have been a disgrace for many years, just covering with black top (tar) and rolling is short-term cosmetic solution, which has not worked. The surfaces to walk on are very bumpy
 189. Roads need re-surfacing, Selby Lane. The old British Legion building is an eyesore in its current state.
 190. I am 93years old and enjoy living in Keyworth.
 191. Please do not allow Keyworth to be developed such that it loses its character.
 192. Concerned about the many small shops gradually being replaced by take aways (know many owned by London business demanding high rents), yet Ruddington doesn't have this problem.
 193. We have lived in Keyworth over 30years and unfortunately some parts are looking dilapidated. Not a lot of money being spent on improving what we have. Well done to many societies, which flourish in Keyworth. I think the community spirit is still good and people are very friendly. Shopping locally is a far better experience than impersonal large supermarkets. Keyworth should try and retain its large village atmosphere. Good luck with the village plan.
 194. The road in our area has not been re- surfaced in 40years.
 195. It's a shame that shops stand empty in Keyworth, perhaps the rents are too high. The planners should consider more carefully the range of shops and their services. Keyworth is a lovely place to live and am not sure how this can be protected, but it hopefully will stay a pleasant village and not become a faceless town.
 196. Keyworth is a lovely place to live on the whole. How do we get to the parish office for example where are opening hours and even "entrance sign" displayed? Can we hire Village Hall and other halls, parochial and how? More use of fields and open spaces, what about some crazy golf and a nice café like at the seaside?
 197. If South Wolds school used part of the unused grassed area, which backs onto Wolds Drive as a car park for teachers, visitors etc, this would really ease the congestion and lack of visibility on Church Drive. Pavements need attention.
 198. Getting local plumbers etc is a nightmare, they pick and choose jobs, greatly overcharge and mess you about. Its still a lovely place to live and think the council do a good job along with the parish council, its definitely the safest place I've lived and we don't regret moving here.
 199. No large-scale building, residential or industrial (health centre is an eyesore) Keep the leisure centre, post office and all the playing fields and green spaces.
 200. A great place to live, I moved here 4years ago and have easily made friends and feel very welcome and really happy to be part of the village life. Please keep the size and the good things about Keyworth, its environment, green belt and uniqueness as it is at present, The village Square, Keyworth Show etc.
 201. A lovely village, which we are all privileged to live in. We need to try to maintain its "ethos" while not being "stick in the muds". Encourage youth to want to live here and look after them by giving them things to do, valuing them and their contributions, having facilities they can relate to and afford. The same applies to the slightly older couples wanting to live here and start families, they want affordable housing. Also need to respect our elderly and give them dignity by making them feel valued and useful, don't know how though!
 202. Keyworth is large enough. Pavements are in a terrible state. Should be parking meters in parts of Keyworth, i.e. Church Dr and the top of Nottingham Road, people living there could apply for a disc for when they have guests. On the whole Keyworth is a lovely place to live.
 203. A lovely place to live and bring up children, in a rural area but with easy access to Nottingham The village has met its optimum size. More warden aided/sheltered housing in the village to ensure the elderly can remain here and not lose contact with friends and family here.
 204. Could we please have a few more dog poo bins around Keyworth, every road should have one esp. Wynbreck Drive, I'm sure this would reduce dog fouling on the streets.
 205. A good village to live in providing the standards are maintained. This means employing enough staff to implement the good upkeep of the village and its facilities.
 206. Generally we live in a nice place, if the plan doesn't tackle development issues we will be a suburb of Nottingham within a few years. We should learn lessons from the monstrous health centre that has blighted our skyline.
 207. I want it to be more village like than town like. Don't want it to get attached to Plumtree, West Bridgford and Nottingham
 208. Should try very hard to keep Keyworth's character and the green belt land surrounding it. More facilities provided in evenings for older children. Dog fouling and parking on pavements are issues that need tackling. Would like to see more hanging baskets and planting around and coming into the village.
 209. This village is big enough. The infrastructure is too small for expansion. There are hundreds of acres of farmland in Rushcliffe borough lying fallow, why not develop new villages? There should be properties provided for rent and they should be allocated to young couples/families from Keyworth before filling from troubled areas. Providing "part buy part rent" is a total rip off for the people buying, the only people that gain are the local government (Rushcliffe Homes). The elderly need decent sheltered accommodation, so why rip them down when all they needed was re-roofing?
 210. Would like to have a social club, adult social activities have declined in recent years. There is little in evenings and weekends in the way of adult leisure/social activities. A family social club please. Indoor bowling for senior citizens, the village hall could be used for this purpose.
 211. Play areas for young children are not adequate, Nottingham Road playground is not very well thought out, there is not a lot to do there. Could a better area be introduced in the recreation area (the field) next to Village Hall? With seating for adults. I don't always want to have to drive to Rushcliffe country park all the time. Also a better area around the Park Avenue zone would be appreciated so that kids have somewhere to play football as opposed to in the street where they hit people’s cars and windows.
 212. Keyworth needs to stop thinking it's a small village, it isn't! Think about children under 10, the park is useless. Cut the 10pm closure times.
 213. Keyworth could expand into a small town with more facilities. With housing to suit the average person as a larger town it would serve the surrounding villages. Communities need to be more self contained regards employment, or good transport provided, for example re-open the Melton railway line with a link from Plumtree to the Cotgrave colliery branch and possibly via Flawforth to Ruddington onto Wilford and the tram. It seems better to expand the larger villages which provide a more community feel, than to allow West Bridgford to move out to encroach Tollerton/Plumtree. High-density flats in urban areas are not for families.
 214. There should be a lot more for 4yr olds and a better park.
 215. Keyworth News helps the community greatly and long may it continue. Note. There were no questions on public information.
 216. Keyworth is a convenience village with virtually no character, the character was destroyed years ago. Councils should recognise it is a convenience, largely dormitory small town and plan accordingly.
 217. Please consider residential parking. A nice place to live but we wouldn't want to see it getting any larger or more industrial. Consider Police presence late in the evenings, esp. when The Salutation empties. Concerned about under age drinking on the streets and in the Salutation.
 218. Keyworth is a well run and pleasant community, it has very good facilities and services for an old person, like myself.
 219. Keyworth serves all my needs but I despair of the way people just leave their cars on double yellow lines because they are too lazy to find a proper parking space. The traffic congestion along Main Street is a disgrace, parking should only be allowed one side and we should have somebody to police the situation. All the time there is no penalty people will continue to park illegally.
 220. Speed cameras on Main Street please! Particularly to catch Salutation patrons!
 221. A great village to live in, but anything that would make a huge difference, such as cycle tracks and renewable energy would be too costly, except maybe for more policing in the village.
 222. A most agreeable village to live, the shops and facilities are adequate.
 223. A very good bus service. A lack of police presence in the evenings. Pavements and roads need resurfacing. Good Health service. A nice place to live.
 224. Would like a coffee house/bistro. Somewhere more appropriate for younger married people. Centenary lounge is ok for the rather elderly (dare I say!)
 225. Any future development i.e. Selby Lane should be no higher than the surrounding buildings already there. Need houses for the future for elderly, a lot of people living in Keyworth are now in their 50's. Double Yellow lines on Main St totally down one side.
 226. A good place to live, I was born here in 1938, so the future will not affect me a lot. I think there is more thought going into trying to keep it in keeping with the surrounding buildings, which is a good thing.
 227. We consider ourselves lucky to live in Keyworth with the facilities, we would like to retain it the size it is
 228. More small shops should be encouraged in Keyworth. The development of Keyworth should be restricted. Road surfaces should be improved in the near future
 229. I love living in Keyworth, it's a friendly place, I don't think it should get any larger, as we'll be merging soon with the centre of Nottingham with all the developing that is trying to get passed through
 230. We need to keep the village feel if Keyworth with all it's splendour 'the show' 'the organisations' 'the village hall' whilst keeping the village modern and encouraging youth, families, and a safe friendly environment
 231. We are so fortunate to be able to boast 2 excellent Halls and many other facilities that so many other villages have not been able to provide. Well done Ben for the design of the front cover.
 232. More bus shelters. More seats around the village for people less able to walk far. Put the ones back outside Budgens and outside Sainsburys.
 233. Would like Keyworth to remain as it is, if many more houses were built, this would create more problems esp. the roads being more congested. Affordable homes and flats for single and married people should be built for the benefit of those who have been brought up in Keyworth. Otherwise more problems would arise if only elderly people lived here, as the feeling of being part of the community would be lost.
 234. I am very keen to preserve the green belt around Keyworth. If building on it were allowed then eventually it would be swallowed up by Nottingham and lose its character and wouldn't be such a pleasant place to live.
 235. I would like to see all pavements resurfaced not just some.
 236. Judging from number of cars parked in Bunny Lane car park by 8.30am on weekdays, presumably people from outlying villages are parking for free all day and commuting into city by bus. This has been unacceptable for years and can only get worse if congestion charges are introduced.
 237. Could we have some prominent posters, perhaps around the schools to remind irresponsible dog owners to clean up after their pets?
 238. We find Keyworth very clean and friendly, no complaints at all.
 239. There is still insufficient parking at the health centre on busy days. Up to 9 buses outside the school on Wolds Drive.
 240. Socially, it’s a very pleasant place to live. As a built environment, it lacks a variety of building styles and particularly open spaces suitable for walking and playing. A circular walk through local fields would be good, for example from Selby Lane across to bottom of Lings Lane. Is there any possibility of Keyworth Parish Council taking over funding from Rushcliffe Borough Council/CC to make our own decisions, run and maintain services, such as the Leisure centre? Extra parish Council Tax?
 241. Keyworth needs a focal community "happening", that it can be proud of, it has no traditions/ no unique identity. Try a Folk festival/ beer festival/ conker competition/ marbles championship/ pram race etc.
 242. On Park Avenue East, the garages that provided parking for the terraced houses in this area have been taken down and Housing Association houses have been built in their place. This has caused problems for some disabled as well as able-bodied residents. Although the road is going to be widened and the opportunity to put in parking bays is ideal, the council is refusing to do anything about this. Cars are driving on the pavement to park on the grass verge to avoid their cars being damaged by HGV's. This is a hazard to pedestrians. The council have caused the problem, and they should resolve it!
 243. Keyworth was a very special little village 30 years ago, winning best kept village a few times, now its being ruined by rowdy, leery school kids and youths attracted by South Wolds school, best thing that could happen is that South Wolds is flattened. Please do not over build around the village, less is more. Ask Jim Middleton, he's squashed more than any one and now the bandwagon has been jumped on by other grasping building firms. Give it 30 years and we can be "Keyworth- southern borough of Nottingham", one city bringing its problems to the suburbs.
 244. Keyworth has a lot to offer and it's a good place to live, any major changes, such as expansion into green belt would spoil it. We use Rushcliffe park to supplement what Keyworth lacks, therefore a cycle track/footpath would benefit residents and help reduce use of cars.
 245. No more developments. Keyworth used to be a nice place to live but seems of late to be going downhill, no respect for others and that is upsetting.
 246. Any further development would be detrimental to the village.
 247. For villages to retain their character people must have jobs available there. Local people working there will also have more contact with other villagers promoting more of a community spirit.
 248. I think keeping the "large village" feel is paramount to retaining the current overall ambiance in the area. I wish surveys like this actually had an effect.
 249. Don't spoil Keyworth either by over building or commercialism. We are in the country and don't want to link up to the urban sprawl and one day just be part of Nottingham More houses, more cars, more parking required, more congestion, infrastructure will not take it. Leave the village as it is.
 250. I love EVERYTHING about Keyworth.
 251. A great village, lets keep it that way! Keyworth News is a great source of info' esp. when you are new to the village. Keyworth Show is a great asset.
 252. Keyworth health centre has enhanced provision for medical care. More should be done to alleviate concerns of older residents and to meet their need for sheltered housing with wardens on site. Need more affordable housing for younger people. Rented accommodation is needed. I would like to thank the Parish Council for its work and esp. for seeking the views of Keyworth's residents. Keyworth is a very pleasant place to live.
 253. I like Keyworth, impressed with what's been done in the Square. Today after visiting the Nature Reserve I stopped to read the new heritage plaque and felt proud to be a resident. Also impressed with the new memorial to our war heroes. Thank you Keyworth Parish Council for all that you are doing, keep up the good work.
 254. The village appears to provide for the elderly rather than the young. This in time will prevent families moving in, I'm sure one of the primary schools will close shortly due to lack of numbers. The Parish Council is forever giving the village hall and Centenary lounge a makeover and when do the young ever use these? As parents of young children, I find that if they want to participate in any sport, etc you have to pay, nothing is free for them, I raised a question about the park at 1 council meeting and was informed that Rushcliffe Country Park is just down the road! (so what are you moaning about), its 4 miles down the road! I like Keyworth but with shops closing, Leisure centre uncertainty and lack of facilities for young, I fear for its family future.
 255. Hopefully Keyworth will not increase greatly in size. Ideally new businesses will take over empty shops to provide variety and choice so that residents don't need to travel. Road surfaces should be improved
 256. Very nice village if it stays like it.
 257. I like Keyworth as it is.
 258. I am ashamed of how the people who live here treat this beautiful village. I offer people dog poo bags to clean up after their dogs and they just say no! I think it is going downhill very quickly because people don't care anymore. People throw things from their car windows, children drop litter.
 259. Keyworth is a pretty decent place to live, if it's expanded traffic and parking would be horrendous. More public transport on off and on peak hours for surrounding villages to Keyworth might cut down on car usage. Probably a survey of these villages transport requirements may help. State of the roads in many parts is deplorable. More pressure should be put on the local councils, Rushcliffe and Notts to bring them up to a decent standard. The impression given is that only West Bridgford needs road and footpath repairs, as some of them seem to be done at lightening speed compared to Keyworth. Something must be done about the parking on Church Dr, it's only a matter of time before a serious accident is to happen.
 260. Stop using the ridiculous windmill logo, the windmill doesn't exist anymore and most villages round here used to have one anyway. Use the church instead, because it's the only thing in Keyworth that's interesting and unique.
 261. Would prefer Keyworth to remain the same, but realise it's already a small town. Would be great to introduce a more village atmosphere (the market is a good idea), more fetes or similar, the July show is poor, just a load of stalls selling raffle tickets for bottles of wine and such. There should be more made of the local village produce and talent/baby competitions, glamorous grannies, old-fashioned entertainment and NO fair. The fair could be on another date, it surely takes trade away from the fete. What about a Maypole?
 262. If Keyworth must grow due to government housing quotas, infrastructure must increase accordingly. However Keyworth should remain a village or else its nature would change forever. I've never heard anyone say that they wished Keyworth would become a town! Residents parking permits would be of no use where it is residents themselves that park over pavements, often not bothering to use driveways, for example on Mt Pleasant blocking the pavements for pedestrians, wheelchairs etc. A wide variety of businesses need to be attracted to Keyworth, fast food outlets are no substitute for a varied range of shops.
 263. A lovely place to live, it meets most peoples needs and doesn't need to get any bigger than it is now.
 264. We like it the way it is. Would like double yellow lines outside the shops on Wolds Drive on one side of the road to ease traffic problems at peak times.
 265. Enjoy living in the village. Road repairs are necessary.
 266. Love Keyworth, grass is always greener, but return to Keyworth always happy. Fab Health centre. Fab Leisure centre. Fab opportunities for youngsters, does need more advertising, people don't realise its potential. Love Keyworth Show, churches and schools, we are so fortunate, cater for lots of needs, interests and beliefs. Parking around Budgens and Leisure centre is a bit busy, can we use the space better?
 267. Keyworth is big enough. It has issues enough to resolve without expanding the population further and bringing extra weight onto problems i.e., crime, local resources, local services etc. It's time we built on the strength of the Keyworth community to make it the best village in the county to live in, extra housing will not make this happen. Investing in local people and forging a new identity will! Beginning with "better schools" - "raising aspiration".
 268. More money needs to be spent on pavements. In my area they look like patchwork quilts. The roads need resurfacing. General vandalism needs to be sorted, as it’s becoming a problem, because I never see a policeman around the village. Bring back the old bobby on a bike.
 269. Would like to see a bigger and better outside play area for under 11's, with appropriate play surfaces so they can be used all year round. More restrictions to stop older children abusing the play areas for younger children. Maybe creating different areas for different age groups, such as the ones at West Bridgford, Ruddington and Tollerton. Overall Keyworth is a lovely village and I hope it continues to stay that way.
 270. Village feel of Keyworth has certainly deteriorated in the 18 years we have lived here. The Keyworth Show used to attract us but now it is so full of tombolas and charity stands that only sunshine will get us to it. As it's the only event that should appeal to everyone its sad that more is not made of it as a community awareness raiser.
 271. Village should stay around its current size. Far more attention should be paid to roads and pavements.
 272. Any major expansion will seriously affect Keyworth's "village and community" ambiance. Grassed area by cemetery could be landscaped/ have bulbs planted. Lay-by near cemetery could do with levelling and having a hard surface. Seat at top of Bunny Lane Hill (above Wheatcrofts farm) could do with replacing.
 273. A good place to live. I hope it keeps its sense of history and not be in too much of a hurry to modernise for the sake of it. It's important to keep a good sense of local identity in the future to encourage those growing up here to feel that they belong and will care about its future and that of other residents.
 274. Keyworth has great facilities for everyone. Pleasant place to live but don't think we need any more expansion.
 275. A good place to live but to a point this depends where abouts you live and what your neighbours are like, by neighbours I include businesses. Police presence could be improved. A good place to live for the elderly and important to keep it this way.
 276. Better parking. More play facilities for children. No extra buildings. Potholes filled in on the roads.
 277. It is always good to see community spirit and participate in events such as the village quiz and Keyworth Show, long may they continue. Keyworth is a lovely village to live in and am so pleased that my family is here.
 278. Keyworth is big enough now and I would not like to see it get any larger.
 279. Concerned about lack of community spirit in Keyworth. I am keen to see more events/opportunities that encourage the community to come together as a whole.
 280. Used to live here in 60's and have recently "come home", Keyworth has improved!
 281. We need to support local shops more because more and more are closing down, sometimes because of high rent. We need a good coffee shop and clothes shop. We don't want to become a ghost town. We should provide for all age groups and stop teenagers just hanging around, so more play areas and activities should be provided.
 282. A number of properties have allowed shrubs, plants and trees to grow over boundaries and obstruct pavements, something should be done about this.
 283. Housing: there are plenty of houses for sale in Keyworth, both affordable and at the top end. Why build more? Within a stones throw you have the sprawling conurbations like Gamston who want to live in that sort of environment. We in Keyworth don't want to grow into something similar. Keyworth should remain a rural or semi-rural community and should resist any pressure to allow further development. Policing: is very poor. No presence at all generally. Incompetent when requested to take action against crime. General environment: has deteriorated considerably. Looks shabby. Fast food outlets and yobs hanging around the street outside.
 284. I will be happy to stay the rest of my life here
 285. Very attractive place to live with many excellent facilities would not like to see many alterations
 286. Selfish parking and people driving too fast is my biggest gripe.
 287. The state of pavements on Normanton Lane and elsewhere in the village are a disgrace.
 288. I would be very upset to see the Leisure centre close, it's a fantastic facility in the village and I would/do support the campaign to keep it open
 289. If Keyworth expands, which I hope it doesn't, could the council have the foresight to use the rail track in some way. Trams to Edwalton or even link up the rail track at Cotgrave with Plumtree. If the population explodes surely public transport should be invested in now. More people travelling by rail into the city would help the environment.
 290. A pleasant village with good facilities, I would hate to see it getting any larger, as then "village life" would be totally lost.
 291. Should try to preserve the village aspects, I did not come to live in a small town, but rather to escape into a more rural environment, please no building work, extending the size of the village.
 292. Signs need upgrading around Keyworth. Residents should be talked to re- proposed shops in village centre. Vandalism should be addressed regularly. More policing on the beat is needed. Village centre would benefit from floral display on central island. Illegal parking should be stopped regularly.
 293. We like Keyworth to remain same size as it is now. Facilities are good. Leisure centre needs to stay open Bus service and new buses are great. Dog fouling needs to be sorted out (heavy penalties, dog owners should have to pay for the cost of cleaning up the dog mess) Car drivers to use the car parks and stop parking on the roadside (Budgens and the Square).
 294. A good place to live and this should be maintained.
 295. Keyworth is stuck in the past with politicians that want it to stay that way. I suggest, - some new build to encourage families to move to Keyworth so that schools do not close. -Encouragement for new restaurants/bars and businesses to establish in Keyworth so that people spend here rather than in West Bridgford. -That the Square/ conservation area is developed to give Keyworth a heart (like Bingham and Radcliffe have). Thankfully the Selby Lane development is going ahead , providing much needed housing for the elderly, which in turn will bring family sized houses onto the market, bringing in more families.
 296. People seem to have lost respect for their surroundings. The lack of highway maintenance, road litter, just adds to the "I don't care" society we seem to live in. If the council tidied up these unkempt areas and actively discouraged kids when they come out of school from just chucking their rubbish onto floor, things might improve. Have you seen the amount of chewing gum on the footpath outside Budgens? Why are they not made to clean it up, it's just as bad as dog fouling. The area behind the shops on Parade is a total disgrace, the traders should be made to tidy it up or charged if someone else has to do it.
 297. Preserve Keyworth at its present size.
 298. No more take-aways. A good family pub (The Tavern would have potential) A footpath along Platt Lane so walking to Normanton on the Wolds would be safer. Generate housing for younger families without creating huge extension to Keyworth. More awareness generally about the need to support Keyworth's "kids" activities such as Scouts, Guides, and Youth Clubs.
 299. Many pavements have recently been resurfaced but the quality is poor. The material used gives a lumpy finish and weeds are already breaking through. Many hedges and tress are protruding over pavements, the council should take action to get property occupiers to cut them back.
 300. It is a very good village overall to live in but there could be more allotments for people to use.
 301. It concerns me that the flats on Spinney Road are getting single people from Nottingham who have drug and drink problems. Housing should be for Keyworth's young people.
 302. Generally a lovely village. The areas surrounding the flats and council estate could be improved though.
 303. Play area for young children is awful. Un-useable after rain. There have been a number of occasions when we have walked there only to find that it is closed. We usually have to travel to Rushcliffe country park or Gamston, which is unacceptable considering the size of Keyworth.
 304. If extra housing is so vital to the village, why is building work, such as on the corner of Thelda and Debdale not completed? There seem to be a few empty buildings around Keyworth that should be used. It is important to retain green belt.
 305. I have just recently moved from Tollerton to Keyworth so at the moment I am trying to experience all that Keyworth has to offer, I am already finding shops, buses a big help.
 306. I am proud and appreciate bringing my family up in Keyworth. It has excellent schools, caring community and low crime rate.
 307. A wonderful place to live. Close enough to Nottingham city centre and to the countryside with excellent facilities. However the closure of the Post Office and the threat to Leisure centre indicate that we can't be complacent. It’s very important that we keep hold of these facilities. Would like planning consent decisions to be considered more carefully, did we really need another supermarket. There are some builders who would love to come into Keyworth and make lots of profit at the possible detriment to the village. Important we keep services (library etc) but also improve on these esp. for teenagers. I've loved living in Keyworth.
 308. Tidy, large village. Friendly with approachable people. Good place to live and bring up children!
 309. Keyworth is good as it is. We don't need to lose more local shops though. It is well balanced and the best place to live in the area, after living at Bunny and Clifton, Keyworth has the best of both.
 310. More police presence would be good idea. Problem with cars speeding on Wolds Drive from the junction with Wolds Rise to Nicker Hill. NO SPEED HUMPS PLEASE! Consideration must be given to people with back problems or other ailments.
 311. A good place to live. It is a real community with adequate facilities, also a lot leaner and quieter than West Bridgford. Excellent bus service.
 312. Top priority is to get the main roads completely resurfaced (not just put some stone down). Keyworth roads were not designed to take HGV's. Wolds Driveis a disgrace to the village. The entrance to Nicker Hill as you go past Platt Lane requires a complete overhaul. If Keyworth were called West Bridgford all roads would be like a cricket pitch.
 313. Sad to see the closure of the last petrol pumps in Keyworth after my 47years here. However, we have a great new Health centre which provides many facilities. It would be pleasing to see an NHS dentist there. Local shops are changing and a teashop would be welcome.
 314. Lovely place to live. Hopefully it can retain the things that make it so.
 315. Keep it as it is. Do NOT expand (like East Leake).
 316. Would be nice if a bit of our Parish Council rates were put to better use. Can't see where all the money goes. A few more flowers around Keyworth and more benches. Where do you wee when the health centre is closed? We need a loo which is open at all times and accessible. A few more Christmas decorations at both shopping areas. There are a lot of overhanging trees and bushes in peoples gardens, could be cut back. Police never around when needed.
 317. We always pay our council tax promptly and strongly feel our roads and pavements should be maintained like West  Bridgford's. They do seem to receive more attention on these matters. Also more Police and 24hr supervision in Keyworth, for example police patrols on foot or cycle.
 318. I love the idea of Keyworth News. Not sure of any public toilets apart from Doctors. Have lived here for 2 years and everyone has made us welcome.
 319. Not too much development. More floral decoration in the summer.
 320. Keyworth is still a wonderful place to live. It's not perfect but has managed to retain the atmosphere of a country village with many of its former values and family connections over several generations. It’s quite impossible not to adopt some modern changes but the prospect of too much increased building and additional population would have a devastating effect upon this character and dramatically spoil the hard work of many village folk over the past 40 years. Disregard government targets and quick fix ideas to resolve problems elsewhere and strive to maintain what we have. This would achieve the best for our children and grandchildren for the coming years.
 321. There is a complete lack of Police presence.
 322. I object to cones being placed on Church Dr. The parking problem should be resolved by opening up the school grounds on Wolds Drivewhere the bus bays are placed at the moment. All school staff may then park in school grounds and create a good turnaround within the area for dropping off pupils etc. getting them all off the roads. I understand the shop staff on the Parade have parking areas at the rear of their premises, why don't they use it? Many park outside their premises which leaves little room for the shoppers. Pavement and road surfaces are an absolute disgrace. Why is West Bridgford once again having a lot more paving and upgraded roads when we regularly have holes and uneven surfaces to cope with? A total survey of these conditions should be completed and the relevant authorities should be lobbied in order that Keyworth may be proud of their roads and pavements. Before dealing with the future of Keyworth, lets concentrate on the present and activate the various authorities in dealing with present day issues.
 323. It is noticed that no mention has been made of law and order, Police operations in this document, Why? On average at least 15 incidents are reported every month in Keyworth News and it is not very often that the culprits are caught. It is very unusual to see any Police on foot in the village and it is some years that any have appeared in my area (Debdale, Rancliffe, Delville, Highbury and Highfield). Neither does this area appear to be cleared of litter on a regular basis.
 324. The planning decision regarding Wrights Garage was laughable in that the buildings are far too high and dense. Buggy users will find the very narrow pavement on Selby Lane dangerous particularly when passing pedestrians or possible funerals. The planning decision to allow flats to be built adjacent to Blind Lane was also wrong. As ever the views of the general public in planning matters are ridden over roughshod. Access for emergency vehicles visiting the new Wrights garage development could be difficult when all the proposed parking spaces are in use.
 325. We hope that all this leads to NO CALAMITY. Too many frequent changes could complicate a finely balanced status in Keyworth, but certain things need doing gently, such as traffic speed control and car parking. Responsible citizen control of the young might be outmoded but it will have to come back somehow, in our opinion.
Village Hall- Belonging to Keyworth Dramatic Society for many years we strongly recommend that the authorities should arrange for the installation of permanent stage lighting in the hall. The Dramatic Society could help in this by supplying some equipment and sharing commitment. The facility of the Village Hall really belongs to the citizens but it is too inflexible in its management to suit so many local possibilities. If the hall were more freely available to local groups many more people would use it. The Dramatic Society performs there infrequently presently, using Radcliffe- on- Trent's Grange Hall for main productions.
 326. Lived here for 17 years and think the facilities are compatible with healthy and comfortable living. Villages are seen to be thriving when a local magazine produces a monthly diary and comment. We've always been impressed by local information and it seems that Keyworth has something to offer everyone (if they wish to pursue their interests whether leisure or educational). We are not overwhelmed by the police presence and wonder if the "new" police station is used sufficiently or manned frequently enough (to avoid squatters!) Provided the standards are maintained and the population/housing is not overwhelming, Keyworth's future should be rosy.
 327. I would like to see an end to fast food shops /restaurants in the shopping areas and preference given to local shops. When I first came here from Nottingham I could buy children's shoes and fresh fruit and vegetable. This meant I didn't have to travel outside the village. State of pavements around the Parade, make it look like a city slum, esp. with the state of buildings above the shops. West Bridgford has had several new pavements recently. Encourage enforcement of parking regulations in congested areas as a priority.
 328. It has taken us 28 minutes to complete this document. If it could be completed in 15 minutes giving thought to the answers, our country would be booming!
 329. Road and footpath surfaces are positively dangerous
 330. Keyworth as a community is already good, but it has remained at a crossroads for the last 10 years and hasn't changed. It has huge opportunity to be proactive and make its future, rather than be simply reactive as opportunities and crises come and go. A good example is West Bridgford, which has chosen to change and is now seen by many as a flagship suburb. As a result many people think it gets a disproportionate amount of money. Keyworth could do the same! Don't dither, but drive us forward. Make us more self-contained, more professional industries, more social activities (restaurants, ca
