Young People
The Young People Action Group aims to ensure safe and appropriate facilities and leisure opportunities exist within Keyworth for all young people (between 11 and 18 years).
The Keyworth Village Plan adresses facilities and leisure opportunities for all young people in the target group (between 11 and 18 years).
Why are we doing this?
- The perception of young people by the village community as a whole
- The requirements and aspirations of the target group
- Disconnection between young people and the rest of the community
What is currently available?
- Provision by the County Council run Keyworth Young People's Centre
- Provision of safe areas for young people to congregate - e.g. Skate Park, Play Areas
- Provision of youth-orientated organisations, e.g. Scouts, and their profile and accessibility to the community as a whole
- Provision of youth-orientated sports clubs, e.g. Tennis Club, and their profile and accessibility to the community as a whole
- Possible connection of organisations and sports clubs with young people where none or few currently exist
What can be done next?
- Increased need for local people to volunteer to work with young people and the barriers (real or perceived) to doing this
- Links between the schools and out of school activities
- Links between the schools, youth organisations, and local businesses
Contacts
The Young People's Plan will be developed in consultation with all stakeholders. Including but not exclusively:

Key Questions for the Action Group
How can we improve the relationships between young people and the rest of the village community?
What facilities are currently available for young people, how are they utilised, how can we improve them and provide new, appropriate things?
Young People's Survey
In addition to the household survey, the Young People Action Group conducted a survey of 11-18 year olds in South Wolds School and the local community. The results of this Young People's Survey are available to view online.
